Laptop hardware resuourses issue.

I have had this ongoing problem since updating an old toshiba laptop from win7 to win10, built in WIFI adapter doesnt work 99% of the time.
I recently swapped out the old HDD to an SSD as it was painfully slow, now works great on the SSD but wifi issues persists.
I got a USB wifi dongle and it worked once but now doesnt get detected by the OS and not visible in device manager, i'm sure some good software guru might be able to get it working.
I was hoping that windows update might fix it but nothing as yet, everything else is working well and its now much faster with the SSD than it ever was.

Agree and trying to find suitable drivers for an old lappy is hard, device manager wasnt any help so maybe i need to try toshiba support.

What model is it? Older toshiba laptops were actually made by Dynabook, and the drivers are on their website, not toshiba's ~ also search internet archive with brand/model to see if anyone's uploaded anything.

I dont have the model number on hand but at least 10-12 years old, quad core cpu. Looks like dynabook was only rebranded from Toshiba in 2018 so this was made by toshiba as toshiba.

I would suggest for a machine of that age, unless you need some windows programs it could be worth investigating Linux. you can try it without installing anything. Just be warned there is a learning curve because it IS NOT windows and, does not run native windows apps. It is, however free, and most software is also free! If, given the age of the machine, all you are doing is browsing the 'net, reading and responding to emails along with some word processing, Then Linux will work well for you, none of my computers are less than 5 years old (some were new when XP was king!)

I run (SDI_RUS) it will always find a driver if one is needed and install it.
