    Default Media box question

Since the demise of the Telstra TV box which is now totally useless, Telstra sent me free of charge the Fetch mini, well what a useless piece of crap that box is, the main feature I use is the media centre but the fetch mini does not have media hub like the telstra tv box did, so I havent got a device that i can stream stuff from my PC anymore.
So ideally i'm after suggestions for a cheapish media box, that has, Disney +,Stan, and most tv channels like7,9,SBS,ABC and 10 as well as Netflix and of course a media player so I can connect to my Kodi on my PC, Look forward to any help or suggestions please and thank you.

I have some of the cheap ones for the grandkids and there great running kodi and easy for them to operate but some wont run foxtel amazon netflix etc.

For myself I cant go past the Nvidia Shield, yea a bit more expensive but it does everything and is well supported

If you watch 4k content with atmos/dolbyvision etc you can't go past a shield.

I use vimu media player on the shield.

Im still pissed off that I paid nearly 4k for an lg oled and the media player is useless, hence the need for a shield....

I have a couple of fetch mighty boxes....hardly ever on, but I do watch ESPN and BBC Earth on them. After ditching Foxtel, I needed something...I have an old Beelink j45 connected to the TV in the kitchen. Amazing little mini pc that runs W10 and plays everything....

Just looking at the Sheild Pro....looks really interesting...

I have a spare MacMini PC that does 4K and everything else I want to do.
I used Android media boxes in the past but they frustrated me.

I belong to the very rare people who do NOT wish Google and Amazon and other third parties 'listening' in to my private conversations and collecting data from them.
All these newer boxes have microphones where it is questionable if they can really be disabled other than physically destroying them which of course voids any warranty.

You belong to a whole bunch of ppl who believe what they say is important enough to capture & 'listen' to....

....seeing as you're so keen on AI....

....now, I want your proof about this ....that is, wireshark logs of the mac mini's operations.... to be useful, you have to gather logfiles for about a month (because...) often they have timers to 'call home'...

Feel free to upload your logfiles anywhere.... I just love looking at how many times a 'mac calls home'...and how much data is exchanged....you can't read it of course (proprietary apple protocols), but blind freddy can figure out there's a lot of data being exchanged, too much to fall under apple's smokescreen of 'anonymously gather user data, to improve the macOS experience'....man, shill lines for the truly gullible...

....oh, and it's easy to desolder the mic on android boxes ~ just open it up (they're clipped, so you need a good spudger) and desolder it....put it back together.... voice commands won't work anymore, but this is simplistic...

You are obviously not aware of Lulu.
Nothing gets out to Apple and I don't use any of their applications.

My mac's are just glorified UNIX machines... and I use a LINUX VM that always runs parallel to use Freetube and other things. Youtube wants me to create a fv@&ing google account because they don't like my VPN IP-ranges, well too bad, now I don't have to view their ads anymore or have any other limitations, can even download

My M1 runs offline as well as the TV mac mini most of the time.

I find it a bit crazy that peeps get their movies and TV content from torrents and then view it with online fully connected devices.

...your ignorance is actually quite amusing.

Google wouldn't exist if they would think what you say, write or any action you take over the net wasn't important to them, LOL>
Of course same for Facebook, Amazon, Microsoft, Apple, Baidu...

These days the excuse for all the data mining is to train AIs.
In the olden days it was to 'improve your personal experience'
In reality is about profiling for whatever nefarious reasons but mostly getting money off you for things you mostly don't need but can't refuse.

BTW I am not an AI fan.
I just don't want to be ignorant of them, so I need to find out what they really do and how they work.
I found the Facebook Ai gave some surprising results. Surprising as in biased and led to my assumption that the majority of Facebook users either don't like Trump or the collected data was filtered that way.
All others I tested were very neutral.

If anybody wants something like Freetube for Android then look for Newpipe.
You will not find it on the play store of course. The playstore version of Freetube is total garbage.
Either from newpipe.net or search on apkpure.com to download the apk file.

...and update if required but the great Google hasn't 'cracked' the last version for quite some time

I just found the solution I'm running Nova Video player and I can make it play the next episode automatically

when playing a show press the up button on your remote, this will bring up a menu. Press right until you get to play mode. There are 4 options: single (default setting), folder, repeat single, repeat folder. Change to folder. This will allow the autoplay feature for any show or movie in that folder. If you have a show in one folder with multiple seasons it will autoplay all the episodes, of every season, through the final episode.

I lied, there is a 'play all' option when multiple episodes are in a folder.....

Nova is ok, but vimu supports dolbyvision/hdr 10+ etc

Yep< since you're used to using Kodi, why not use it on the Nvidia Sheild?
