Help dealing with an old alarm panel DAS DL250 Series
Hi everyone,
I recently purchased my first home, and it came with an alarm system that I know very little about. Here’s what happened:
Alarm Incident
Today, the alarm was accidentally triggered, and I discovered that the speakers are extremely loud! We managed to turn it off by cutting the power to the alarm box (a large beige unit labeled with a sticker saying DL250).
Later, I found out that the only reason this worked was because the battery inside the box was dead and one of the contacts was corroded. When I plugged the power back in, the alarm went off again, even without the battery.
Current Situation
Inside the alarm box, there’s a switch set to 'Normal'. I tried switching it to 'Program' or 'Reset', which stops the alarm when plugged into the power. However, moving it back to 'Normal' immediately triggers the alarm again.
What I'd appreciate guidance with
1) Resetting the Alarm: I’d like assistance on how to reset this alarm so that I can set my own 4-digit code and use it properly.
2) Upgrading Options: I’m also looking for recommendations on upgrading to a more modern alarm system that doesn’t require significant rewiring and is reasonably priced.
3) I live in Hurtsville NSW, so if you know of anyone in the area that would be happy to do 2) I'd be all ears.
Thanks for reading this far!

Can't really comment on your DL250 but my experience is don't try to recover a antique system.
From a user perspective, Bosch 2000/3000 are popular replacement, more resources available to deal with these models.
Get something with a LCD keypad because you're never going to remember the programming codes.

Hi Joe, thank you for your response. Apologies for my delay responding - i hadn't turned on thread notifications.
I appreciate the advice and I won't spend money and effort attempting to get the DL250 working again.
I have a small home and 8 zones is more than I need plus I already have hard wired movement sensors. Does this mean the Bosch 2000 is best suited for my needs or is it worth paying a bit more for the Bosch 3000 to get the touch screen panel?
I've seen some upgrade kits from Cheap Alarm Parts and CTC Security. Are there any specific configurations you would recommend? I was tossing up between:
I was then going to use AirTasker to find someone to do the installation

Might as well go for a 16 zones Bosch 3000, price difference for the board is too little in the overall picture.
You'll need remotes and receiver as well. The kits usually doesn't have these.
