    Default Canary/Defect for Nothing

i copd this today when coming home from my university exam and they got me for three things.......

1: Lights under the car---i told them they are on a independent switch dont go on with the headlights and are for show purproses only (he told me not to be a smartass wtf)?

2: Battery Clamp not tight enough?( i go to him you cant be serious you cant even move the battery).

3: AND THE MOST BULLSHIT OF ALL---it was a two lane road and a car in front of me was turning righti indicated to my left and to pass inbetween the car turning right and the parked car on the left, to be safe i pushed the button to fold in my mirrors and then when i passed through i pushed it agian and they unfolded to the same postion. He siad i hsouldnt of folded them in WTF!

The police officer cannot be seirous---he couldnt of at least got me on something that was legitimate-oh wait there was nothing.

    1/ I told you so.....

2/I know for a fact that they can canary brand spanking new cars for having more than 6 clicks when pulling up the hand brake mate

3/If you needed to fold back the mirrors to pass a parked car it hints towards you taking risks. They can however charge you for driving without sideview mirrors.
Sorry mate yes they can.....its law.(even though it sucks)

They wanted you and they got you.

    Sorry to hear.

Don't drive in a manner that causes the cops to pay undue attention to you and you won't get stickered.

1:yeh i know though if its on a switch mate wernt turned on how can you getp ulled over for them i told them the color was pink (legal color i think).

2: wtf that is hoenstly bullshit mate how can they, my batter was literally fixed it couldnt be untightened with your hand you needed a tool to untighten it.

3: i was on clarendon st and there was so much traffic i had to pass through and i simply wanted to take no chacnes (im a bit cautious now wiht the new bodykit) so i did it...

this is hoenstly so unfair and they are so tight lots of people in my course have skylines, supras etc and exams were held at MSAC around albert park and when we all pulled out via the clarendon st exit the policee were waiting outside the gates at MSAC so when we pulled out eveyrone got pulled over, two skylines and one supra and me got pulled over..

i got a video and pics of eveyrone getting pulled over to.....

    ill post it up later

Mate, I feel for you, I honestly do.
But if they were waiting for you all to leave then it begs the question 'WHY'.
What did you all do yesterday (or previously) that pissed someone off enough to have the mounties get you anyway they could.

Sorry mate but its part of life.

As i tried to teach you, dont drive something that attracts attention, keep it as stock looking as possible and drive by the law.

I too didnt understand it at your age.

Can i ask, how did they spot the neons?

Your worried about the battery clamp, normally they point out minute stone chips in the windscreen that you need a magnifying glass to see, saves them looking under the bonnet.

Just your blue stripes are like waving red to a bull.

As i said they can canary anything if they like....

I bet the body kit didnt help mate.

Nothing mate though i got to admit there are osme dickheads that do give it to there cars around albert park, also theres always undercover police on clarendon st so they probably organiesd it. I jsut really think it was a ****s act to get us as soon as we oulled out from our exams for doing nothing at all what so ever.

hey mate and i absolutly agree with you the blue stripes and bodykit dont help at all but i have to admit it has always been a dream of mien since iwas young to drive osmehting like i do now so i am paying the price for it.

They looked underneath my car to see if i had a catlyctic converter and then spoted the neons under the skirts on the sides.

Ditch the sticker collection on the windscreen and doors. If I was a cop I'd harrass you just for that

If you need to fold mirrors in while attempting a driving manouver , you should NOT be attempting it. Simply wait for the car to complete its turn and continue on your way.

That pic screams fully sick burnout king.

The P plate yells keep an eye on him because he's about to do something stupid.

When they pull over p platers, they dont care what you have to say, they only need to belive something doesnt look right and slap a sticker on.

If their wrong means nothing to them, but they get to have your car checked out by a RWC specialist at your cost.

At my age their not a problem, a little respect for them goes a long way, knowing the legal requirements helps.

A 44 year old driving a performance car is viewed as an enthusiast, an 18 year old is automatically a hoon.....

    Such is life mate.

Nice car. The bird must be laying down in the back . What kind of car is it?

If the distance was so close as to need the mirrors up it was far too dangerous for such a pretty car. Once you get rid of the P plates youll be right with the cops.
My Health , my Family and my Property are not Government business. Governments should do what they were designed to do . Govern the issues that are best done by a central body in the country to protect it from foreign invasion.State Governments and Local Councils should be abolished to stop the duplication and waste of funds.

To defeat corruption in the public service , give them three times the penalty. Have them agree on hiring.

Yeah ill agree with that, life aint exactly fair, but i understand your building the car of your dream.
Its just that it looks too "need for speed underground" and the coppers will jump on it in an instant.
Interesting how they were looking for your cat.

Maybe time to lose some stickers mate and lay low while on p plates.

Its not exactly cheap is it?

Edit; im surprised they didn't try to get you under the hoon laws when you folded your mirrors....maybe he wasn't as bad as he could have been.

I agree, lose the P plates. I remember when I was on my P's I had a VC commodore worked off it's nuts, could not for the life of me keep the cops from pulling me over and defecting me. In the end sold the car, bought an Excel for $500, got off my P's then jumped back into the V8's.

Haven't been defected since, and my machine is borderline street legal lol. I get the occasional "What you running under the hood" from the younger cops, but not the sort of attention I did when I was on my P's.

Yeah funny thing that, they love picking on P platers.

When i saw your body kit and the rallyart sticker, the first thing that came to mind was that a yellow canary was going to be slapped on her.

I want to ask you a question but have a long think about it before you answer.
Do you think that if your car was rock stock, i mean factory stock, that they would have picked on you? Possibly no?

As George mentioned save it for when your off your P plates, you will be a little bit wiser by that time.

When you do build, dont build something thats going to attract attention, build something that looks as stock as possible AKA Sleeper

That is of course that you are still interested in fast cars. Most guys by this time have better things to do with their money and dont want to risk trouble with the cops.

Then again some of us cant help it. Right George?

Unless your 45 driving at 5.55am with your radio up full blast . Didnt defect the car just breathe tested me .
I watched them pull out form the curve .And suddenly their sirens were going. And I thought they don't want me surely,i rarely make 60 anymore .I could not pull over I was going through a set of green traffic lights.
I stopped they asked me to get out for a breathe test.Asked where are you going .I am standing there in my work uniform company emblem on my chest umm work .i looked at the cop he was like 16 (my underwear looked older)the female cop wasn't bad looking .He got the breathe thingee ready and I 'm saying will it detect vegiemite mate .she checks me out on their pc and off course nothing comes up on the breathe thingee or computer .
OFF I go thinking dont rattle exhaust dont rattle lol.

Couple of weeks before was driving my lad home .we got pulled into for a random breathe test .The sergeant took one look at me ignored me looked at the car in front .He had the constable go over it and told the driver off for dirty number plates .BUT he had the biggest muffler you could imagine and he got away with the muffler not the plates
Dirty number plates was his biggest problem .lol
Oh yeah I passed with flying colours .

So Godzilla dont play your easy listening fm stations full bore like I did

    Cheers

    Your not wrong

But on a serious note , something that has already been mentioned. The P plates.

I am not sure what the fine or penalty is for not wearing them but it is probably worth weighing up what the fine is against all the shit you will get when cops see them and pull you over.

Example , not wearing P plates might be a $200 fine......if they catch you.

If you do wear them and the cops pull you over because of the car and they see you are a P plate driver , they will probably give you all sorts of grief and some bullshit fines. Therefore , not wearing them looks an attractive option.

I reckon if you " de-Gino'ed " it by removing the stickers , removed the P plates , drove within the speed limit/no burnouts etc etc its very unlikely you will get pulled over at all.

Thats from someone similar in age to Godzilla who has lived through his hoon days and is now 41. I can cruise around all day in my Z3 2.8 and not get pulled over simply because I no longer hoon. I cruise

The penalty for not displaying P plates or them being not clearly visible is 3 points and around $125.00 fine. From memory probationary license holders don’t have to lose many points before their license is suspended (six from memory in a year) and the probationary period is extended when they get back on the road.

Add that with the fact your driving a car that has please pull me over written all over it I would not be removing the P plates.

It’s possible they were looking at you to see if you where driving a car listed under the high power category such as if your car was turbocharged. I am willing to bet you have a large exhaust so from behind it would look like you do and the mirror retraction would have spurred further interest.

What happened when they pulled you up could have simply been a breath and license check and on your way or a hamburger with the lot depending on everyone’s attitude on the day. Unfortunately driving a car that looks like it’s out of need for speed or fast and furious teamed with p plates is going to attract attention.

Remember your living in the “The state to be fined” if everyone stopped driving in Victoria the government would go broke.

The fact is, not displaying P plates when you are required to, is breaking the law.... Is it worth the risk?... I don't think so.

As mentioned, without the P plates, you may receive less police attention, however, that does not mean NO attention, so you are still likely to be stopped and checked, even if it's only a RBT and you just happen to be in the queue.... then the police discover you are a probationary driver, not displaying P plates.... this will not only automatically earn you a hefty fine, and loss off demerit points, but also, you can be certain the car will be given a thorough inspection and the slightest defect or infringement noted and additional fines/demerits added.... possibly resulting in loss of your licence.

The fact you have previously been issued with a vehicle defect notice will also attract police attention when performing routine registration/licence checks and if you have had any other fines or convictions recorded against you previously, including speed camera fines, then police 'interest' in you will increase... just to see if you are being a good boy

it all comes down to the police officer and HOW you are driving...

ive been pullled over for a RBT at about 1 in the morning
i was driving my friends car so i didnt have any p plates i also had a full car(restricted to 1 passenger after 12pm)

police officer didn't say or do anything, it was obvious i was driving a bunch of my piss head friends home...

id listen to some of these guys, ditch the neons, mirrors, etc etc
fly under the radar and ull be fine even with p plates.
