    Question image improvement

    Hi Guys,

I am not an expert in CCTVrather junior. Need your help in terms of CCTV configuration.

As I figured out I am getting clean images clean when I connect CCTV camera directly to the monitor, but the quality is loosing a bit when I hooked up camera via DVR. It is understable because compresion, digital and etc...

The question - is there any way to hook up camera directly to the monitor for good displaying, but in the same time it has to be connected to DVR and record video.

    Thanks for your help.

Depending on the DVR you have, will determine the quality of the displayed image. Most low end DVR's will display recorded image and medium to high end will record the images and loop through a live feed to the viewing monitor.

To answer your question about obtaining live view, I will need to know the following.

    1. Does the DVR have two BNC connections for loop in - loop out?
    2. Is the monitor VGA or composite, if composite, does the monitor have a passive loop in - loop out connection?

    Cool

A couple of things to look at . Most quality DVRs will have a loop o/p for each camera i/p. This is simply a split of the signal going into the DVR. The other thing to check is the resolution & frame rate setting on the DVR. If these are set at minimum to extend recording capacity then the picture quality will suffer.

This is not going to help if the monitor only has one composite input.

I know, I am trying to establish what set up he has before explaining what to do.

I don't like splitting video feeds if the system doesn't have the ability to switch to High Impedance (Hi Z)

    Thanks guys,

I have intellex DVMS-16. It has video IN and passive loop thru OUT on each channel.

Also, it has an optional Live/Playback monitor to the BNC connector on the VACD board to view live, or playback, video without the Intellex interface.

I am not sure if I need multiplexer or this Live/Playback BNC our will give a analog signal and 16 squares on a screen.

    Thanks

That's not a bad unit, don't see why you cannot view live.

A couple of more questions. Are you using a VGA monitor at the DVR and a Composite Spot monitor elsewhere? Or are you just using one of the mentioned monitors?
