afaik most programs get screwed wen u redo os
eg.word ect.
some you can make work from old program files exe's
if they work, create a desktop shortcut from that exe
eg winrar.exe
Bring old programs into new registry
On a number of occasions I've installed a new vesion of Windows to upgrade (from Me to XP lets say) and did not choose the upgrade option nor did I choose to wipe the hard drive clean and start from scratch. Whereas the old version folder maybe named C:\windows, I've chosen a new updated folder to be called let's say C:\Windows2!
Now in the old version were installed programs that are still in the "Program Files" folder but are not in the upgraded versions registry. Their icons no longer appear on the desktop. Is there a program that will move or update or re-register them into the new registry of the updated Windows OS?
I know Norton has a feature that does it, but I really don't want to load all of that Norton software for one feature!
thanks chris
