    Default newcs + picture pause

    Hi all

I have been running a stand alone winxp newcs server with an nd$ card for some time now without any dramas except for having to put the card back into the pace box once a month for an update.

I have just updated the newcs software to version 1.5 and have been playing around with the client (dm500s) cams to try and get the emm's updating the card. This has been successfull however about every 20 minutes or so I get the picture pausing for about 6 sec. It appears that an emm being sent is resetting the card or something similar.

Any ideas or help would be appreciated, thanks.

For anyone who has this problem in the future I solved it by changing from a Gemini image to Pli Iolite

Thanks for that, no wonder I have never seen this issue (always use PLi).

It would have been simply something corrupt, simply when in doubt Reset Factory Defaults and reset the box up. images wouldnt cause the above.

Thats exactly what I thought, so I tried the reset to factory defaults which didn't fix it. Then I reloaded from scratch Gemini 3.6 and 4.2 onto different boxes and they both did the same thing. Then I changed to the Pli image and so far all ok, interesting to see how it goes.

    cheers.

yep...you did a flash erase to go from gemini to pli.

that's what did it, nothing to do with images.

It's the cams and emus that make the dreambox, not the pretty menus and screensavers.

    I beg to differ.

Many images including PLi have issues with the way the handle cams, that is why since PLi Flubber / CCcam 1.2.1 and PLi Iolite / CCcam 2.0.5 many things have not worked on the images in between the way they should have, as just one example.

In PLi Iolite with CCcam 2.0.5 so many things just work the way they should have a long time ago, but many people have written off that particular cam as not working. Scam is a good example but it is so great on N2 on networks just off your eastern coast in the pacific.

okay mate, i've been programming in machine code for about 30 years.

Feel free to quote me the exact bit of code you reckon makes Pli so superior to all others.

I had the same issues with Pli Iolite 2008 release (build 4014) on my DM500 clone, it didn't matter what emu was used, the picture froze every 5-10 minutes for approx 6secs. Reverted back to Pli Iolite build 3873 no problems. There's no problems with Pli Iolite build 4014 in DM600PVR, DM7000 or DM7020.

Yep started on the 6502 myself back in 1980 ..

I am not saying PLi is superior at all, it was an example of 2 bad releases (Garnet & Helenite) I know of.

Hi Windy, can you please enlighten me as to what emu you use on the 600pvr, I am using Gemini with cccam 1.7.1 to get nds cable pics plus all aurora channels.

Problem is it freezes for same time every 5 mins, bloody annoying. I will try Iolite 4014.

    thks

The latest evocamd, mgcamd or cccam can do the job for nd$ and i2 in conjunction with newcs server. evocamd is probably the better of the three because it can do Aurora (irdeto 1) without creating large key files.

    There's is one small problem with the latest evocamd, the camd_cfg file is missing;

    # Key files folder
    # 00 keyfiles in /var/keys
    # 01 keyfiles in /var/tmp
    T: { 00 }

    Without T: { 00 } or T: { 01 }, evocamd won't work

Cheers Windy, thanks for that, as a relative newby, that went right over the top of my head (brain missing). Must do more reading when (if) site gets back to somewhere near before.....

    Except in post #4 ?

"Thanks for that, no wonder I have never seen this issue (always use PLi)."

Maybe just your enthusiasm for Pli dominating all your thoughts?

Not that it matters to me, but the newbies will think it will fix everything in life.

As to never seeing this problem that "black_hole" posted, this is 100% correct. I have never seen this problem. For the last 16 months we have been running 6 boxes on PLi & CCcam on a NDS card for F***tel and they have never missed a beat. I just upgraded all of them to Iolite last week and working very smoothly. I have only ever used CCcam as the server and the clients, so a very genuine comment.

Sure I enjoy the PLi images as most of these images work out of the box as they should, so why put up with images that do not function as they should. Pli is not perfect but a lot further down the road than many others.

I know the combination of cam/emu/cs does the clever work
the skins and menus are just eye candy
but the image + addons + website forum support + working downloads + cams + skins + menus + sqlite epg = pli is a real good package

before I get accused of being a pli-ophile

I have loaded and got working davinci, sfi, nabilo, neutrino, gemini, edg, nemesis, boxman, ds and juliet

I gotta register my vote for pli
it aint a panacea ( it doesnt get me a beer from the fridge)
but its the best that does easily what I need it to do

If they have always worked properly why upgrade them? LOL

The thread is about serving with Newcs...not Cccam as a server.

So you are 100% off topic my friend.

Noone says Pli isn't functionally okay.

Just that suggestions of reflashing will never solve anything intelligently, and will certainly cause grief to alot of people who stuff it up and blame the boxes for it.
