BenQ and Intel ICH9

Just wondering can i flash using Inter ICH9 chipset for the new benq drives or must i buy the sata via 6421 pci card??

any tut's handy anyone??

can be done via ich8 so the 9 should work
you need to cut 2 tracks and install a switch
thier are tuts around am at work tonight if you dont find any can send tomorrow

From what i have been reading, you dont have to cut the tracks anymore as that problem has been overcome. Correct me if im wrong
but if its a matter of using the VIA chipset and NOT cutting the track.. ill go buy that

want to keep my mods reversible in case of warranty issues

theres lots of info but its going to take ages looking through old stuff to actually find a good write up that is current, hence my asking here =)

but found dosflash 1.1 didnt work with intel had to use 1.3

but you need the via chipset

Just found a pci sata card from my old computer
its got VIA 6421L on it, would that work or it has to be 6421A???

i need
-iPrep v1.06 with dosflash16 on a bootable usb
-via card (6421L which i have)
-benq ixtreme 1.4.1 firmware (cant find yet - any help? )

and basically thats it?

sourced the FW so should be set to go

just need to make sure i dont brick it as its first time im doing FW flashing
chips i have done before but ill do the cheaper option this time

you can buy a sata controller card with the 6421a chipset for $13.68 delivered.

i realise i have a 50 50 chance of either getting a hitachi or a benq with the new arcade pack 360 (hdmi and will look to get new realease date so its the falcon mobo) so if by any chance i do get the hitachi is that still flashable???

the passkey wont work with sil3112 or Via chipsets, you need onboard nforce3 for it to be of any use.

I can do them mate, I remove from dvd rom, dump fw, create hacked fw, then reprogram the tsop and resolder to dvd rom. Not many like doing them though.

I've done a few Austech members 0079 drives

cheers mick i will keep you iin mind but hopefully i get the benq as my friend works at GAME and hopefully he will power it on for me to eject the drive (going now to the shops)

oh i am the shizz lol jokes jokes...

got it working despite a few hicups but its works! took a good 3 hours start to finish but next time i should be able to do it in half hour

btw 5 stores i went to had run out of xbox's all together and another 2 only had pro bundles left
cant believe it was so hard to find a shop who had one in stock
