    Default LSD + gearbox Oils

Ok, well was servicing the car today for the first time was oging to flush the gearbox oil and put in some new 75W-85 mitsubishi oil and then discovered when my brother in law walked past and spun one wheel the other one spun in the same direction...So i tried to see if i could stop the wheel from spinning in the same direction i couldnt. So lets add that to the lists of mods done in japan and just discovered lol:

    Coilovers
    Lightened Flywheel
    Camshafts
LSD 1 way viscous type(i think)
Full Fujitsubo Geiken exhaust with decat pipe.
    Full Intake

Now my question is what gearbox oil should i use for the LSD and gearbox iv noticed my changes are quite notchy the mechanics when they changed the clutch used Valvoline duragear 75w-85.

What Oil do you guys use (rating + brand).....

Anyone heard of Penrite Transaxel 75 (75w-90)
    Redline Shockproof lightweight oil (75w-90)?

    Thanks

    Farah

Pick up a bottle of Motul 300 75W90 if you're after the street/strip gear oil.

Depends on the type of lsd fitted. Traditional clutch type lsd's use a lsd oil not normal gear oil.

    Gearbox as service manual states.

While your there check if the service manual mentions a lsd option, it should mention the oil used.

I use Motul for everything in the GTR.

Hey godzilla the LSD is located inside the gearbox so it uses the same lubrication as the gearbox.I just wanted to know how do you determine 100% if you do have an LSD?

I was told regardless if ih ave one or not jsut put Redline Shockproof 75-90 gear oil in it.What do you think?

Jack it up and rotate a tyre, the other one should rotate the same way.

In a single spinner the opposite one will rotate in the opposite direction.

Another way is just jack up one wheel and with the handbrake off and in neutral, try to rotate it. It should be hard to do.

The best way to test it is do a burnout LOL.

Gtr has all units separate, rear diff, center diff and front diff.

Id tend to agree with the info you received if all the units run under the same fluid.

I know nothing of your car but in my car, the oil must be GL5 rated. The extreme pressure generated will trash the gears with lesser oil even though it works just fine for a while. I would tend to use what the manufacturer recommends or seek advice from Castrol’s help line. Apparently, Porsche have the same requirements as when I was looking for options I was told there was some place that would sell me synthetic for $10.00 a litre as a special deal but I ended up using Castrol, which cost more, but I know its right. Anyway, be careful it has the same or better extreme pressure rating not just viscosity.
