    hi guys me and my mate talk over skype and i was wanting to no dos talking over the net use up your downloads

    yes, not much.
    check hourly usage bandwidth on the skype site somewhere.
    Probably 10 meg or so an hour.
    What happens if I press alt + F4?

    Skype uses a peer-to-peer infrastructure, and routes calls via other people's computers in order to provide fast connections, and get around NAT/etc. Some people have found that having Skype in idle has chewed up to 2GB of their bandwidth allocation per month.

    13 mb per hour on voip.
    $14.95 a month for 300 untimed local 300 untimed national and 100 calls to mobiles.

    Yeah ABt 10mb/Hr when calling aprox 8kb/Sec but if ur going to leave Skype on idle Have a look at Peer guardian if you dont want to be a part of their routing network.
