    Default Telstra Secure

Anyone using the Telstra Secure solution ?

What are it's strong points ?

What are it's weak points from a bureau/CMS perspective ?

Yes we had stopped using them quite some time back. As far as I can see, there are no strong points. I had a client on Telstra Business Secure, had the phoneline disconnected, hence no comms. Client was querying why there was no backup. Of course, the ADSL (main path) and the phoneline (backup) both comes from the same phoneline.... kind of a joke.

I hate when people class ADSL and PSTN as two paths.

I thought that GPRS was an integral part of the Telstra Secure solution - or at least it is now ?

I have no idea regarding the GPRS option as we had stopped using them about 2 years ago.

They actually use UHS Systems equipment, which is an IP, GPRS and PSTN solution.

That's right George. I believe it's good kit. Can you PM me the trade cost of the equipment if you know what it is ?

I don't know too much about pricing as I never pushed the product, I only ever used it when I was working for OneWatch b4 they went belly up, they pushed a lot of the Business Secure stuff.

We phoned the corporate number from the Telstra Secure brochure today and the first person had never heard of it

The second person eventually cottened on when we mentioned "Securitel Upgrade".

25+ minutes later we were asked to leave our email address and told that they would get back to us with some information.

Here's me thinking they might offer some serious competition in the Dialler Upgrade market. ROFL.

Music on hold was nice though ;-)

hmmm Telstra Secure is not the same as Telstra Business Secure.

At least thats what I've been told. It supposedly has different equipment, network stuff and Setup. Meant to be a good solution.

I think if you can get more info if you call 1300658001

Correct, it is a very different solution. Are you looking to buy or sell it?

If your looking to buy, Telstra can't help to much with that, you would need to talk to ADT/Chubb etc

Having developed and worked on the same product for a couple of years, I recommend this solution as it is rock solid

    Got an email today.

Telstra Secure the official replacement of Securitel is Telstra’s next generation back to base fully managed private IP monitoring security network. Telstra Secure is a managed and dedicated security monitoring service provided on Telstra’s Next IP & Next G Private Network. Telstra Secure is independently accredited to C3, C4 and C5 of Australian Standards AS2201.5 – 2008 and is the only approved Telstra solution.
Like we didn't see that coming lol. The ONLY APPROVED TELSTRA solution, I wonder why?

Incorrect, Telstra Secure is GPRS only. Does not support PSTN or ADSL.

Keef it can use PSTN as a backup and it can be changed to PSTN as primary if you get the guys at the server end to do so.

We get them direct from UHS as Securepath (same shit different name) it was organised through the same person who organised it for your company Keef.

It has an ethernet connection that during "training" we were told it was for diagnostics only at the moment and would soon be able to work over ADSL.

Here is the Telsta Secure web page.
DAS are the distributors for the unit to the best of my knowledge and according to the email newsletters I have been receiving from them.
I haven't used it myself and dont really have any plans to do so. ATM I am replacing Securitel services with GPRS solutions such as the SED-64 from SecEng. Have installed the DTU-3/4 from ISCI as well.
Both seems to work ok but I have heard reports of the DTU units suffering dropouts although I haven't experienced this myself as yet.
