    Default Ness D-8

    Have a Ness D-8 Alarm

Battery light on and keeps beeping and dialing my mobile every hour or so

I think its due to a flat battery in the unit

    Any help would be great.

    Cheers

Sounds like a low battery, replace the panel battery. 12v 7Ah battery required.

The panel will do a Dynamic Battery Test every hour, if you want to clear the light sooner you can arm then disarm the system, as it performs DBT when armed or disarmed.

I got my replacement battery from Jaycar for a reasonable price.

One of the many reasons for an alarm not to call a mobile

Alarm systems that send text or voice messages to the mobile expalining the reason for the call are of ourse excluded from Keef82's comment above....

No dif from calling a 1345 or your friendly rip off cms,

just a bit dearer call charges - 25cent compared to 30-40c/min to a mobile.
Least when it calls a mobile, something is done, not operator ignored.

    Happy new year.

Which operator is ignoring events ?
Which CMS, thats not good enough

I get weekly reports for all my accounts emailed to me, i check every event, every action to ensure quality of service to my lines.

Its nots the fact that they are ignoring it, you have to remember a few things :-

    1. The level of training that goes into developing most CMS Operators is very Minimal
    2. You are using a shared service, just like patrols, just like the police and ambulance, alarms are delt with in order that they arrive and order of priority, sadly, if there are 5 operators, and 10 medical alarms come in at once, then your burgulary alarm, sadly, your burglary event will be put on hold until the medicals are fixed.
    3. Its Human nature to ovoid things that you dont understand, so if something out of the ordinary comes in, they are going to um and arrrr about it and perhaps defer it to the SLH for escalation...

We must all remember that its a best fit solution, it works most of the time, and it must be sold as such.

We have 3 Controls Rooms that I deal with, not to mention the work I do here, All sending daily reports, all sending NTBC Packets (We use ADSW) so we have local reporting capabilities and all of our data at a touch of a button.

Keef talk to your CMS, nearly all of them have abilities to get your data sent to you (even MAS... ew )

Ive tried searching but cant figure out why, as per user guide put in the sequence of codes for the alarm to call or msg my mobile when its triggered but after testing, the alarm has gone off nothing comes to my mobile. Am i missing something? Any help much appreciated.

Could be on of many things!
    Have you got dial tone.

One reason not to have the alarm call your mobile is if the alarm is triggered for whatever reason, Duress, Fire etc. Your home line will be taken over by the alarm and you won't be able to call for help, and you'll find it hard to call for help on the mobile.

Has your version got the dialer fitted???

Check the panel to see if you can see a phone line entering the box

    I dont mind sms.
I am a Bureau and make money of monitoring and everytime the panel dials my 1345 number, but there are alot of people out there (talking domestic) who dont want to pay monitoring, they all want the alarm to call there mobile witch i hate and most of the time refuse to do or strongly talk them out of because of ovious reasons and because most are pointless and dont tell you anything.

Panels i use have inbuilt sms, no extra modules, and it actually tells them the zone, whats going on ect in good detail.

If they dont want monitoring (domestic) and dont require it for AS ect, sms is better then nothing imho, altho the downside is the delay.

As in regards to above with not being able to call for help, sms wont stop you from using your mobile

Exactly, how many times have you tried to send an SMS at midnight on NY to find the recipient got it at 2am?

LOL..... oops no signal ? or delayed sms even upto 2 days later ?

I tell ya the old school securitel did fall over now and then mainly in areas of dodgy telstra pits waterlogged with storms but they were alot more stable than GSM, the only secure option is I.P. as gprs can chok-up at times.

I waited with a client for the sms's to arrive after an install.
It took over 10 minutes for them to arrive and that was early afternoon on a normal day.
Then they all hit at once LOL, but he still didn't want to pay for the monitoring
