System update this morning?

Hi all,
did anyone who installed the NXE early also get a update msg today?it says there is an update and when i go to download it,it wont.is it because i installed the nxe early that i have to wait till tommorow before it will download?

Didn't make it into Microsoft's New Xbox Experience preview program and can't seem to hold your horses until the November 19 launch? Here's a bad idea -- pirate it!

Yup, the install files for the New Xbox Experience have made their way to the Internet, and it certainly works to update your console. But as Platform Nation (who went ahead updated their system with these files) puts it, "You can not connect online with it till November 19th." Well, here's a little surprise: you might not be able to connect again. Ever. Period.

Earlier today, press participating in the New Xbox Experience program (myself included) were warned to not switch the hard drives from our updated consoles to another unit. Microsoft later clarified to us by saying, "This is a security measure and if you do switch hard drives from a console with NXE preview access to one without it you could be placed on the ban list for unauthorized usage."

So while it might be tempting, just hold your horses; it's not worth it. You do want to playing Gears of War 2 online next week, right? To hold you over, check out our early impressions from our experience with NXE.

Hmmm....I installed the update early, then I was accepted into the 3rd wave of pre release users which updated fine over the top of the leaked one. I'll connect to live tonight and see what happens.

It's not really pirating either, it's a free update! The email to pre release users says not to connect your updated hard drive to another console as it will update that one, but it won't be allowed to connect to live until after the 19th. Nothing about banning at all. I think the banning nonsense is just scare tactics.

I'm pretty sure for you guys it just won't allow you to update until the 19th/20th whenever it's Aus release actually is.

i updated one here ive repaired from rrod with the leaked firmware now when i plug in a hard drive it wont see it.... does the leaked update do this or is the xbox fubar???? i have no idea because i didnt test it with a hdd on it prior.

test the HDD on another x360 make sure it still working ..

Just a few quick questions....(xbox noob)

Could you install the latest leaked update nxe without a modded console? From a bit of reading it looks like a yes.... this in itself would make banning very unlikely

I thought from the sound of the article, there is little risk of anything happening unless you SWAP your updated nxe console HDD to another console (the nxe update files are stored on the hdd) Just seemed like the writer was beating it up, or at least this point wasn't as clearly emphasised as the BAN!!!.......but then again, i suppose installing files from the net has the same effect ie, the consoles/serial numbers won't be on microsofts trial list.

I doubt anything is going to happen, just have to wait until the 19th (is this USA 19th, or your region?).

You can install the leaked update on any console. No point now as it's only a day away.

It doesn't ban your console, it just won't let you connect to Live until it's officially realeased.

I just connected to Live and there's no extra update. Still on the pre release version.

there are conflicting storys as to when it will be up for us aussies,one is 9pm tonight (2am USA Time) or the 20th,2 morrow,i keep forgetting that the USA is the center of the universe lol

9PM on the 19th as all updates i recall were released at 2am in the USA...based on a time conversion:

Melbourne (Australia - Victoria) Wednesday, 19 November 2008 at 9:00:00 PM UTC+11 hours EDT**

**Since that is Melbourne time, people in other states adjust the time based on where you live.

Just got of the phone to Microsoft xbox live customer service,played dumb and said i had recived emails about a nxe update on the 19th and it hasnt happened ,whats the story,he words were"sorry for the inconveinience ,but the nxe will be released in australia this afternoon", he went on to say that i might have some trouble downloading it as they expect australia and nz too all be trying at the same time to install it","so thats this arvo "i asked?
yes, we will be releasing it some time this sfternnon.

no, i asked a few times for a specific time but just kept being told"some time this afternoon", so im guessing 9pm as well

I just logged into xbox live and the buttons say 2 days to go. the message that live system sent said it was the 19th?


will just wait to 9pm and try again then

i spoke to microsoft again and they asure me that its 9pm tonight,they did warn that the servers are going to be packed

yeah i updated around 9.20. download was fast. the update took less than the estimated 45mins!

looks very...... pretty. does the same thing except differently lol
