    Default Asiasat 2

hi all, this is like my millionth post today just found this website and made an account its fun here:P

i wanted what is highest signal strength and quality that someone can recieve on a strong 4653x on asiasat 2, because ive got a professional sat meter (trimax SM-2500) and when we mountaid the fixed 1.8m dish it was hard to find a signal and the most i can get is about a 53% signal strength on the decoder?

Where are you located? .... a 1.8m is typically a bit small for AS2!

Did an install for AS2 on sunday, and achived signal lock within a minute of the first crude adjustment of azimuth and elevation .

..... Anyway, box was a strong 3650 and the signal quality level achieved was ~ 65% - use this figure as indication only as it isnot a calibrated figure and can vary from box to box even within the same model type!

NOTE what I said above - signal quality!, not signal strength. Signal quality is what you are after. If you have zero, then you are most certainly not pointed atthe satellite.

well acually it was about 3 or so weeks ago that we set up the dish....when you look in the installation menu its got a 95 or so signal strength and heres the strange part the bars are both red and the quality is like changing from 20-23% but the thing is that we still get the channels crystal clear (arabic)

If the receiver is correcting the bit errors in the digital data stream... then you will get perfect reception. If the quality drops too low (eg: the BER increases) you will get reception breaking up, or gone altogether.

Did you adjust the LNB skew for best 'quality'?

I've been able to receive AS2 with a 1.5m solid dish, but bigger is better (more reliable)

The figures you gave in your previous two posts are conflicting. In one you said signal strength is 53% and on the other you said it's 95%?

Forget what the receiver says, what are the readings from your pro sat meter? eg: signal strength measured in dBuV, BER pre & post viterbi and MER?

Sounds like you have plenty of signal, but just the 'quality' is a bit low.

As per my previous post, you may need to adjust the LNB skew.

What signal strength, BER, MER and noise margin readings do you get from your pro satellite meter?
