Hi all, can someone please post which model numbers have the most problems and also which model numebers of the one they would recommend to someone.
I did ask this question way before the AUSTECH went down. There were a fair few opinions from alot of people. I hope this will happen again.
But this time I`ll write all the info down.
Cheers

Unless of course you want to whack a hard drive in it. Then you need to find an older 'big' PS2.
The last 'big' version (SCPH-50002a) will generally have the freshest laser.
For my money Min you cant go past the old Version 7 (39002) Their great to mod and generally dont give too much trouble and dont have the laser burn out issues of the V9 or V12. If your after a slimline for preference then a 79002 as Mick said is harder to mod but is a a good console also. If your going to mod it ensure that you get someone that knows what their doing and has been around for a while so dont be afraid to ask around. The golden rule of "You get what you pay for" is especially relevant in the world of modding. Dont expect a million dollar job from a numb nuts with a used chip and bugger all experience who's prices are cheap...Which state are you in?
I`m in Vic, when I do get a console i`ll be modding it myself. But if I was to get someone else to mod it for me it would be Mick.
Thanks for the info and your opinion.
Much appreciated.

Would this be your first PS2 mod job Min?
If you want my opinion mate you would be far better to PM either Mick or myself, This is not an area for a beginner to start.. All the best.
U gotta start somewhere!
What would you do if your server was stolen or failed beyond repair?

I agree with you Bodo and Crispy but the vast majority of first time modders are unlikely to have previous experience in a similar field with the required skills and tools. If he has the skills and tools then fine but just trying to save a possible problem and headache thats all.
