Default Mazda radio code cost $60 to reset

Bloody battery went dead in the Mazda yesterday, put in new battery. Now th stereo comes up with code. so I rang the dealer I bought it off & they tell me cost $60 to get it recoded - bloody hell half the cost of the battery!!
Cheeky buggers - looks like I'll have to go back to Toyotas from here on!!

I know with the ford radios you get a few goes at entering the correct code, then every time you get it wrong you have to wait longer and longer. so you migt wait 5 min first time then 10, 30 ,1hr etc but ign must be on during the wait time.
    How old is the vehicle?

Too right ! I would be telling the dealer that if they dont supply it to you free of charge you will never purchase a car from them ever again and you will recommend to friends and family that they never shop there either.

If they have any brains they will cough it up quickly.

it is the fault of whoever changed the battery.

    or

whoever didn't wite down the code for the radio...they always give you the code when you buy the car.

tried al the above, rang the dealer they are next to useless
Rang Mzda Aust in Melbourne nice fellow but couldn't help, did say the code might have been the last 4 digits of the vin number.
Useless dealer didn't keep records - from what I can gather once "err" come up the dealer has to plug in a comp - reset the fxxkin thing & then get another number from Melbourne & $60 for the priviledge.

Im not finished yet might make a few more phone calls, maybe they might get sick of me calling & fix it, yeah right!!
