Bloody battery went dead in the Mazda yesterday, put in new battery. Now th stereo comes up with code. so I rang the dealer I bought it off & they tell me cost $60 to get it recoded - bloody hell half the cost of the battery!!
Cheeky buggers - looks like I'll have to go back to Toyotas from here on!!

thanks godzilla d/loading it now, plus going to give Mazda Australia a call & tell them it stinks!!
too late the daughter has been playing iwth now it comes up with "ERR" can't even get to code it now bugger & triple bugger!!
leave the ignition and radio on for one hour to get rid of the err
What happens if I press alt + F4?
Have you tried to disconnect the power incase it resets it?
disconnected the power at the battery again, reconnected "err" still comes up
Might try the leave on 1 hr trick see what happens!!
yeah pretty safe here, could leave the car with the keys in it all day.
tried the hour test still "err"
bugger, works with a lot of cars.
What happens if I press alt + F4?
I know with the ford radios you get a few goes at entering the correct code, then every time you get it wrong you have to wait longer and longer. so you migt wait 5 min first time then 10, 30 ,1hr etc but ign must be on during the wait time.
How old is the vehicle?
Too right ! I would be telling the dealer that if they dont supply it to you free of charge you will never purchase a car from them ever again and you will recommend to friends and family that they never shop there either.
If they have any brains they will cough it up quickly.
it is the fault of whoever changed the battery.
or
whoever didn't wite down the code for the radio...they always give you the code when you buy the car.
if you message me with the vin and rego I can try and get it for you next thursday
What happens if I press alt + F4?
Knock yourself out.

Step one:- press one at a time - preset 6, AM, Auto M, Seek ^ (up).
Step Two:- Input this number, 4989.
Step Three:- Press and hold Auto M and Preset 6 together.
Step Four:- The Word ''GOOD'' will appear on the screen indicated that the radio will work.
Step Five:- Reprogram new Antitheft code into radio as per instrution manual.
From here;
tried al the above, rang the dealer they are next to useless
Rang Mzda Aust in Melbourne nice fellow but couldn't help, did say the code might have been the last 4 digits of the vin number.
Useless dealer didn't keep records - from what I can gather once "err" come up the dealer has to plug in a comp - reset the fxxkin thing & then get another number from Melbourne & $60 for the priviledge.
Im not finished yet might make a few more phone calls, maybe they might get sick of me calling & fix it, yeah right!!
That link i put up specificly mentions the err symbol on the screen.
Are you sure you followed it correctly?
