    Default Temp file deleting

    Hi,

As I watch my virus scanner or malaware bytes doing it's stuff, I always see it checking temp files. When I look in windows\temp file there are only about 4 files.....can I delete these?

Also, I noted it shows c\documents and settings\local settings\temp files when it was scanning. I couldn't see that temp file when I went looking, and then worked out if I enabled my hidden folders, that I could then see them all. I note there is heaps in this temp file, 2.74GB. Is it safe to delete them from there, and not lose them where they are stored elswhere? They are mainly our photo jpegs, and I assume they sit in temp when we view them, but do all show up in my pictures files where they should be.

So...can I safely empty the temp file?

    Thanks as usual

    Goto START> Run> then type in "%temp%" (without the " ")

    and

Goto START>Run> then type in "prefetch" (without the " ")

They're two little handy shortcuts to what Phil pointed out

    Clean Disk Security.

Been using it for years. Is also very good for securely erasing data.

For anyone using Linux the temp file is exactly that , a place to put anything of a temporary nature . One would assume windows would see it that way too ?

With Linux I have not done any damage to my system that I have detected by just selecting all in the file and deleting , thus leaving a clean empty directory. The few system temporary files that kde uses are simply rewritten immediately.
My Health , my Family and my Property are not Government business. Governments should do what they were designed to do . Govern the issues that are best done by a central body in the country to protect it from foreign invasion.State Governments and Local Councils should be abolished to stop the duplication and waste of funds.

To defeat corruption in the public service , give them three times the penalty. Have them agree on hiring.
