Jap PS3 likes early discs but not 2008 ones????

Hi Guys,
my Jap 40gig PS3 plays all the older discs but later ones (Sony release serials 8000+) all fail. An error message says something about the resolution. Would the latest firmware upgrade fix this or would fiddling with my Panasonic Viera plasma TV's resolution settings be the right way to go? I hear that firmware upgrades can kill an imported PS3. you could download the correct region firmware and install it from usb stick i would think.

a frimware update should fix the problem for you
Now the firmware updates are pretty muc hte same , I have used local on my own jap machine with no problems
However to be on the safe side I would not suggest you do that .
go to the sony japan site and DL the firmware and install from usb just as alphredo suggested .
Or if you use google you can find the firmwares elsewhere
