I purchased one of those 7inch screen GPS's off Ebay.It is a 'no name' device
and came in a plain white box.
The instruction manual gives no hint as to its pedigree, though from the pictures there are a number of sellers selling them on Ebay.
I should perhaps try and follow the pictures back to China, still have you ever tried logging on to a Chinese site?
It gives a nice clear picture and works well.
HOWEVER
The route66 navigation software has pretty primitive maps and the zoom function is more or less non existant.
The operating system is wince 4.2net and I would like to put Oziexplorer
and NatMaps on it.
It takes a 1Gig and probably more Sd card, but there doesn't appear to be any data connections that would allow one to access its brain.
There is an MMI slot, an AV input, an earphone and a 12v input that's it.
They talk about it hosting a USB 1.1 port but there ain't one , perhaps I should pull it apart?
Is there a way of putting the software onto the SD independant of the
device and then simply sliding it in?
Wince emulator and active synch have their doubts.
Suggestions would be appreciated.

missing usb connection
This is the link to the manual in word
Looks like a lot of pins r a USB connector.
My wife has this exact unit she has got IGO 2006 plus running on it. Also she purchased a standard 4 gig sd card and it works in this unit as well.
I bought another GPS it has both Blue Tooth and a USB connector.
I live out in the country so city streets are not of much interest I would
like to put the Australian Nat Map files on it, they are in ECW format and
about 700 odd Meg.
Ozi Explorer has no problems on the lap top, and there must be half a dozen
other programs I have come across that will work almost as well but only
on the laptop.
I can't get Ozi Explorer CE to run on it.
The GPS is again No Name, it has a 4.3 inch screen, uses a Samsung S3C2440A-40 chipset, with a Windows CE 4.2 operating system.
The original manual was completely in Chinese, though one could download
an English version, the pins on the power supply were straight, so you
had to make 'em slanty to fit the Aussie plug!
It has Route 66 which works well enough, the gps will not adequately run TomTom6(loaded from the net) though the other one will.
Any suggestions for software that will run the ECW file?
Any way to get an ecw file to run on route 66?
