    Default USB Serial Comm port allocation

    This seems dumb - but does anyone know how to change the Comm port windows automatically allocates to devices.

    Specifically, I have a USB to Serial converter that has been allocated a comm port (12) outside of the range of selectable commports on my card reader(s)

    in device manager... under PORTS COM & LPT... properties, port settings advance...
