Default Microsoft Windows 7 [Released next year]

Not to sure if you guys know but Microsoft windows 7 gets released next year.

    Microsoft Windows 7

The next version of Microsoft Windows, the software that defines the computing experience for most people, will nag users less than its much-maligned predecessor, Vista. PC users will be able to test the new edition early next year.

The world's largest software maker also is making Word, Excel and other key elements of Office -- its flagship "productivity" programs -- able to run in a Web browser. The move is meant to help confront rivals such as Google Inc. that offer free word processing and spreadsheet programs online, threatening one of Microsoft Corp.'s most precious profit centers.

The forthcoming Windows 7 will let users choose to see fewer alerts and warnings from their computers.

Rampant notifications alerting people to security risks irked many Vista users.

Michael Silver, an analyst for Gartner Inc., said a smoother debut for Windows 7 was crucial for Microsoft.

"The real hurdle is to get Vista's reputation behind them," he said.

Windows 7 keeps some of the significant design changes that debuted in Vista, but tosses out others.

In an interview, Julie Larson-Green, a Windows vice president, offered one small example: In Vista, Microsoft took the "add printer" feature out of the Start menu, but is restoring it in Windows 7 after users complained.

    Hope its bettet that Vista....

Shouldn't take much to improve on Vista.

Reading the blurb, it says all programs that run on Vista will run on WIN7.

What I'd like to see is all programs that run on XP to also run on WIN7... because I have some expensive software that won't run on Vista.

The irony is to me that it looks just like Vista, with a lot of the UAC stuff turned off and more graphical tweaks turned on. When it first came out everyone was raving but the more and more I read about this is its just Vista in a new form. Add in the fact the rush to release, I think its just a name change to remove the "Vista is bad" that is going around at the moment (which Microsoft has been trying to fight for a while)

Then again been using Vista for a while now and I havent had a problem with it.
Coding in C is like sending a 3 year old to do groceries. You gotta tell them exactly what you want or you'll end up with a cupboard full of pop tarts and pancake mix.

This will be one of those windows 95 - 98 jobs, just as everyone gets use to Vista, they pull the rug out and give us a new OS. Should have know M$ would have done this, could have saved a few $$$ buying vista, and waiting for MSW7

    Default Windows 7

    All of the above,

Compatability feature with Older Hardware & Software will always win votes,

I had just been getting used to vista too, Turned Off UAC, & notifications,

& kept up my security scans, & no problems.

    But, bring on Windows 7,

lets keep making it better & better

where will it all finish lol

Always pinching other developers work. Poor developers they make new innovating software, some of these companies have to pay Microsoft royalties to have it certified on their platform.
In a few years guess what a new operating system, with yep the developers program incorporated. That’s the end of the developer, no one purchases their program, no need it comes with windows any body remember netscape navigator?. It’s no wonder Microsoft’s OS crashes. The release name of windows 7 should be changed to windows jack of all trades and master of none.
