Default From TV to my Computer hard disk

I have recorded some Greyhound Races onto my DVD Recorder hard Disk.
I would like to copy them to my Computer.
The DVD Recorder has a DVD Player with it.
I ain't had it very long and not familiar with it.
But I believe I can copy the Hard Disk Races onto a recordable disc I can place into the tray.
And then I suppose I could then place that disc into my computer and copy to my Hard Disk.
I could probably learn how to do that.
But can I just take the outputs straight from my DVD Recorder and go straight into the back of my computer somehow?
Is there like a card what accepts video in and audio in?
    NEWBIE here.

As far as I know there is no A/V out on a DVD recorder. If there is,you can buy an USB thingo with A/V in and plugs into your PC from Dick Smith

Using AV output from your dvd unit you will suffer loss of quality.
The easiest way is to burn it there.

Once you burn your dvd you need to rip the dvd to your pc
plenty of software available to do this on a pc.

    Thanks guys.
I seen some free stuff on cover of magazines about ripping and making your own movies.
Maybe I'll lash out and buy a magazine.
Or even better, get one from the trash and treasure Markets for cheap.

I went to that site but looks like you have to pay or something.
    I keep getting error.
Maybe them files are only there for a little while and then are removed but they are still in the index.
I don't understand this sort of stuff.
Told you I was a Newbie.
Haven't done nowhere near enough research yet.
    Close to Zip actually
Perhaps I will go to wiki and read some of their stuff.
Trouble is they use big words and plenty of them.
Takes forever to read and I tend to get lost and become bored and end up jumping off a bridge or something.

    Thank you rob916
    It worked like you said.
    I saved that website.
Maybe I steal some more stuff
    I can't help myself

I got the program set up, but need to learn how to use it.
Wouldn't it be nice if could just wave a magic wand and then you know all about whatever.

    Thanks again rob916
