Install 500gb drive in xbox1
I have the slayers 2.6 final boot cd. But I cant seem to get this xbox to see the whole 500gb drive. I have never installed a bigger hdd in an xbox before so what do I need to do using slayers to get the f: drive as big as it can be?
I am not sure what type of modchip this xbox has in it, most likely a cheap mod or an aladin. Holding the power button boots it in modded mode and simply pressing the power buton starts it up in regular mode.

you'll prolly need a new bios to see all 500GB(best to go for a .67 bios too), then use SlaYer 2.7(as its the latest) to setup with F & G partitions and use xbpartitioner to format/resize the partitions. Remember that any single partition bigger than 256GB will corrupt unless setup correctly.

So I just grab the aladdin .67 bios from xbins? How do I flash it?
Shame xbins doesnt have the 2.7 slayers disc. Have to go over the road to my brothers to download it though as my net has been shaped down to 64k
open the box and have a look at the chip to check type
if its a 1.6b with hymix memory you will need a bios to suit
Things you need...
Mod installed (Aladdin or such)
EVTool - to edit a Evox M8 or M8-16(v1.6 consoles) Bios to accept LBA48
XBPartitioner - to format F: drive to work above the FatX limit of 250GB
Evox dash - installed on the drive to perform the flashing and formatting (format all drives first, then install Evox dash and a apps folder on C: and E: )
Slayers disk will allow FTP connection to console for loading files.
Edit bios
Load evox dash to C:\
create Bios folder on C:\
Load edited bios into C:\bios\
run evox dash from drive and flash bios
load XBPartitioner to E:\apps\
Run XBPartitioner and format F: only with 32K clusters.
Load F: till she can't take no more.
Ok I opened the xbox just now, its got the xcalibur xbox video chip with samsung ram so its a 1.6 according to the xbox-scene version detection guide.
I can also confirm the modchip is an aladdin as I am staring straight at it and it says Aladdin Advance V1.0-1.6.
I also grabbed slayers 1.7 last night as well as EVTool and XBParitioner so I am set.
Where do I grab the bios to modify with evtool? Do I dump it from the xbox somehow?

So I have used slayers to backup my bios file and loaded it in EVTool but I cant seem to make any changes to it besides colours, size and in game reset modes.
Looks like the kernel is unsupported? How do I get around that?

I'd be using m8plus_16.67 rather than evox m8 or evox m8 v16 as m8plus is newer.
I tried that with a couple of evolution x for 1.6 bioses as well as whatever was on the xbox originally. Where do I get the m8plus_16.67 bios from? is it in a particular folder on xbins?
Think I have found it in the multiversion folder under evolution x

Well it all went a bit pear shaped, I don't think the chip liked being flashed as the xbox has become really unreliable ever since I flashed it. The bios does work but the xbox will not work in stealth mode any more it just flickers on the original dashboard back to the big X logo back and forth. 90 percent of the time I hold down the power button to get into the mod chip mode it just sits at a black screen pressing eject twice quickly seems to bring it back to modchip mode. The other 10 percent of the time it works normally. Might be an idea to get rid of this shoddy aladdin chip which I think is a fake because it doesnt match any pictures of the aladdin advance ++ on the net. Thanks for the help everybody especially Micksxboxmods.
Might be worth just getting a duox and swapping it out.

you may want to try a another bios
chip was fine before flash besides not allowing the large hdd to be fully used.
did you use the bios I sent you?
It has been tested on about 1200 xbox's so I reckon it should be ok mickc, it might be one of those windbond chip aladdins we all had heaps of fun with.

yep used the bios you sent, then a couple of other variations on the m8plus_16 file. I might just try swapping it out for a duo at this stage rather than posting it off to NSW but thanks for the offer.

dunno if you found aladdin or duox2 more reliable, but for all the ones I installed, always found aladdin(genuine ones) to be heaps more reliable than the duox2. I found heaps to have unwriteable flash's. I felt sorry for my supplier at the time(a well known Austech member too).
I recall talking to Chippy about the same thing ages ago.
I reckon they are much of a muchness as long as installed correctly, I agree duox2 have the added advantage of a 2nd bios, buts thats about it.
