Dopod 834 pro - some buttons not working
Just about tried everything with this unit
Pulled it completely to bits - gave it a thorough clean and checked all boards and connectors - reassembled and same problem
For some reason after my son played with my phone - some of the buttons are not functioning.
I tried redefining the std buttons - but that did not work
The following buttons are not functioning as they should - despite the settings - button - reconfige
top two buttons - Email and Explorer
On the bottom pad - Call, task, green and red phone icon, and ok - all dont work
the centre pad works fine
Now he was playing a games prior to this locking up
? - Has the game redefined some keys (this is probably my guess!!!!)
How do I fix the buttons or re-assign them correctly
Remove/replace battery has not cleared it
ANy help appreciated
cheers

Have you done a complete reboot and erased all data and started from scratch ? If you have it should start from the default settings.
Have you checked the Keylock function in the settings/systems menu??

Tried reboot = haven't erased all data - not sure this will actually help. Will sync to pc and copy my details then try this if others think it might help. Whilts I am doing this - it might be worth re-flashing the complete firmware (yes have copy etc)
ie: I have had it completely apart - circuit boards do not show signs of damamge (cracks)
Its not locked within the settings - lock area - even tried
Hi Odonus, I was trying to say if you do a hard reset then all settings are returned back to default ( unfortunately your data gets erased). If they doesn't work then you have an actual hardware fault.
when the buttons on mine sort of stopped working it was because I dopped it
the only button that would work was the green call button
and this would activate when any area of the button pad was touched even very lightly when ever the device was on(was making calls I didn't know about)
I pulled the unit completely to bits and found that the small cap on rubber membrane for the call button had dislodged
pushed the cap back into place and everything was fine after that

Well guys - I did the hard reset - via clear storage, and also pressing the two L/R buttons and pen reset and still no cigar.
Strange that the two L and R soft key buttons don't work with any of the phone apps.
My guess is possibly corruption at this stage - so I am going to try reloading the firmware - unless others here think I should try something else.
Is there a diagnostic or some software tools that can diagnose these little units?

Could try asking the same questions on the xda developers site, some brainiacs over there.

Yep - was thinking the same
After reload of firmware etc - same issue - so it must be hardware
