    Default Windows Media Centre & Satellite PCI card

    Is anyone using MCE and using a DVB-S card? I'd love to set one of these up utilising a DVB-T & a DVB-S card in the one machine. The unit of the future i suppose.
    Maybe it can be done, let me know.

    Cheers.

    My current HTPC has a Hauppage terrestrial receiver and Visionplus (Twinhan) satellite receiver working comfortably next to each other on the MCE XP desktop, but the sat card does not work from the media centre interface.

    Maybe it's possible Vista can do this.

    I have heard of a fix to get them both going in XP MCE, but I find we don't use the media centre front-end anyway, so I've never bothered chasing it up.

    Mate i had a Twinhan and a Hauppage 550 card with a SelectV sub card and i could not get it working with XP MCE. I stuffed around with it for weeks.

    I don't know if vitsa does it, but the MCE does need to support DVB-S

    cheers

    Sure it's possible, many people have htpc running MCE.
    From the other hand why are you talking MCE, why not just XP or Linux with media software installed?
    It works very well for me, the only thing you need to check before buying your tunners is their compatibility with each other as well as with the software. For example Twinhan DVB-S cards don't like another card based on Fillips chip in the same machine (could be analog TV tunner issue only). More details can be found on the web.

    that's what we are here for, can you elaborate a bit more on your set up and what you have had to do to get it to work?
    It is appreciated when people share the knowledge.

    Hardware:
    Core2 E2140 CPU (1.6Ghz);
    1 GB RAM;
    NVIDIA 8400GS card;
    DVB-T : DTV2000H (hybrid tunner);
    DVB-S : Twinhan(Azurewave) AD-SP300 (Mantis chipset);
    Plenty of harddrive space - 2 HDD to separate OS and recordings.
    Software:
    OS : Win XP SP2;
    Front/Backend App - Mediaportal TV Server;
    ProgDVB;
    MyTheater;
    DVB Core;
    Original software apps from cards manufacturing.

    That's what works for me fine, sure few minor hickups especially with MediaPortal, but they are all fixable.

    Twinhan have a plugin for MCE, that can be set up to come up as part of the boot process, that fools MCE into thinking it's a DTV card and after manual channel editing will allow the tuners to work. Very few people however can get any sort of CAM to work in the card for Pay TV however and if it does you have to perform the same ritual every time you boot it up.
    The only sucess stories I've heard involve using media portal for Windows or MythTV on Linux to get the all in one experience.
    is a link to the driver page with the plugin on it as an example.

    I don't yet, others most definetly do.
    It's a separate thread matter though.

    Default I am having a hell of a time getting AzureWave 1034 Running

    I am using the latest MediaPortal (WinXP SP2 AMD 64 dual core 2800+ 1Gig RAM with fix to allow two DVB cards) and have it running with a FusionHDTV DVB-T Dual Digital 4 like a charm. I am trying to add a AzureWave DVB-S Mantis 1034. I can get all channels perfectly with the FusionHDTV DVB-T Dual Digital 4 removed and using only the AzureWave DVB-S Mantis 1034 and the software that came with the DVB-S . If I try to use the AzureWave software with the DVB-T installed the AzureWave software will not run at all. I understand that the DVB-S is not supposed to work with another card with a Conexant chipset. They mostly all have a Conexant chipset. I then removed the DVB-T and tried the DVB-S with MediaPortal. I get a minimal amount (like 3) of channels with Austar. Some have the audio and video cutting out (freeze frame) and the rest are just black screens with no audio. This is no different than when I have both the DVB-S and DVB-T installed using MediaPortal. So, I am wondering if the two cards will work together when I figure out that actual issue with MediaPortal?

    I have the latest drivers for the AzureWave from AzureWave.com.

    Any ideas...and Buyer beware of the AzureWave DVB-S Mantis 1034 when using it with MediaPortal.

    Thanks.

    willworknow, try to read my system spec again few posts earlier.
    I am using the same DVB-S card as you are quite succesfully, so you need to look at your overall system configuration.
    As far as Conexant chip compatibility problem concern, you need to check what do you have:
    1. Not all Conexant chips give the problem;
    2. Aparently only analog TV cards based on some chips give the problem.

    You have two BDA based cards and MediaPortal can handle both of them no doubt.
