Default Running Newcs on your PC

Works very well. Newcsgui gets rid of that annoying DOS console and puts everything in the system tray. You can select Newcs to start up automatically with Windows.

No real issues with the newcs.xml configuration as covered in other threads. A Smargo smartreader running on Vista is known to work well.

I'd be interested in the experience of others with different configurations.

The same thing that happened to yours Leroy. He edited it himself.

As exciting as the hobby is and with people bubbling over & exploding with joy wanting to yell & scream & share it with the entire world, I pointed out to him that he may want to curb his enthusiasm.

It could attract the wrong 'people', who could get terribly upset and take their ball & go home if people continue to rub salt into the wounds. there are some things that would benefit from being low key, rather that being a Mardi Gras parade screaming out "LOOK AT ME!!!"

Are you guys reading between the lines yet, or does it need to be spelled out & enunciated?

I edited it as I don't appreciate being patronized and I certainly don't go around spruiking 'LOOK AT ME!!!" I would think I generally take a more candid approach to the whole sat scene.

I don't quite agree with your 'wrong people' statement... and if you think they are that stupid you're kidding yourself! They would be reading here and be aware of what goes on, on other forums.

I certainly don't see you helping the poor guy who buys his dreambox and struggles to get it going!! I'm no expert, and that's all I try and do and so to others.

Hit a raw nerve have I?
Don't be such a girl Leroy. It's just some general advice so that the free beer keeps flowing
Of course your under no obligation to listen.
I'm not saying it's a closed topic. I'm just not sure that it needs to be lit up by flood lights.

This is a technical forum. We don't want it sliding into a pirating forum.
If it was a locksmithing forum, I bet a little bit of discretion would be employed, as happens in the security section.

    .

Of course they are. Thats exactly why I suggest it might be better to tone it down a bit rather that getting all excited. Do you want to rub salt into the wounds? Back in the gold card days, they let it slide..... Until it got completely out of hand.

Please Leroy, don't even bother suggesting that I don't help people on this forum because thats bullshit.

I help people here each and every day. Often giving them a push in the right direction via PM what they get stuck or over whelmed..... And if they bought it off Ebay, stiff

No raw nerve just feel it's not necessary to talk to people in a derogatory manner.
I would hope you assist anyone that purchases a dreambox, not only the ones that were purchased through you. It's a forum for everyone after all.

Of course, but what does one do with 'gimmes' who have obviously made zero effort to search for their answers?

I have found most people are happy to figure it out themselves but sometime need a nudge in the right direction. I like helping that type of person.

    Then there's the 'gimmes'

Theres been plenty of times I have helped people through networking 101 for example

Lots also who I have helped with that xml config file, even though it's been posted here a zillion times

I could have sworn I already posted this, but here is the default line listing for those who have not seen it. You will need to work out how to configure it from the other threads.

    Your spoon feeding them.
Anyone with half a brain would have read the readme.text and seen exactly the same thing.

If they can't go to that much trouble then they don't deserve any help.

You might be well served to read & heed the advise I gave earlier in this thread. I won't bother explaining why (again).

Then there are some people who just can't be told and they wreck it for everyone......

You could say the same thing about hundreds of other posts on this Forum. Why do you find this particular one so threatening?
Anyhow, this thread was screwed from the start so you may as well delete it.

    I'll leave it open.

All I can do is stress that sometimes discretion can be your friend, and at other times the snowball effect can be your worst enemy.

I think that has already been proved with the demise of the whitey.
It was certainly exciting while it lasted eh?

Now, with any luck, nobody will mention the elephant standing in the corner of the room

There's nothing of any use in this thread; go and annoy someone else.
