Sounds like the wires not making good contact with a point somewhere. Also you might try connecting the 1.5v power as well as the 3.3v.
Hey guys,
Just hard wired in a D2e for a mate of mine who previously had it running from a clip.
Now when i boot the wii, it won't accept any media at all, its like the motor to the drive is not getting power or something.
When the wii boots, the chip stay red for about 10-20 secs, then flashes blue-red multiple times.
Any thoughts on what this might be?
Cheers

What would you do if your server was stolen or failed beyond repair?

Today I decided to remove the chip all together to see what would happen and its definatly a prob somewhere with the dvd drive.
The motors are not running at all, I have checked the 2 "N" fuses and they are fine. Gears all appear to be in order, this has got me real stumped....
Does it always happen? Its common for drive to lock up on D2pro/wiikey V2. Try running latest update for D2pro.
I'd check the CLK connection as thats what causes drive lock ups.

Yeah its happening everytime I turn it on, even with no chip
I had the same thing happen on a d2e drive i did a while back, just stopped working....like the drive was dead.
It turned out to be the small white ribbon cable wasn't contacting properly, the one you dont even touch, I pulled and reseated it and presto, powered up again.
If its not the cable then it sounds like your going to need to replace the drive board.

because it was clipped b4, check if any of the ic chip's legs is bridged or broken.
Will bridged IC legs give you no power to the drive at all?
You could get all sorts of problems due to bridged connections on the chip itself or on the actual board somewhere. I know that I have seen a drive fail to respond back when the d2ckey chips were the norm and someone tried to install one themselves and bridged a couple of legs.
