400GB..1TB Blu-Ray discs? Fwaar

Just saw an article about 16 layer, 400GB blu-ray discs and apparently in 2013 they are going to start producing 40 layer 1TB discs.

Well, if the price of the current Blu-ray media doesn't drop soon, it will go the way of various other technological failures.
People will not embrace a system that is not user friendly, has no outstanding features and costs more than a standard blank DVD.
We will also then have to wait for 10 years to find out if the media is going to be reliable, or if it is going to drop its guts after a few years.
If you burnt a 40 layer disc and the data on layer 23 decided to truncate, I think you'd be pretty pissed.
