    Default iiNet vs TPG

I've read the whirlpool forums however nothing conclusive. TPG APPEARS to be cheaper, I'm still curious about all those hidden costs and $200 modems that are needed.

iiNet looks promising appears to be a better 'gaming' ISP. However slightly more expensive monthly, setup, modem ...

Whirpool is a bit of a mess as only one complaint can make the entire ISP look bad. Any advice in choosing an ISP. I'm about to give up ...

the specific modems at TPG only needed if you want IPTV. Am using same old Netgear as I did on Iinet for years. But now on TPG downloading twice as much for half the cost!
Only negative on the 200g plan is that the uploads are shaped (too). But on the positive side, sometimes shaping doesn't occur at all so you can pull 500g or more and just plainly run out of stuff to download.

Been very happy with iinet ADSL 8meg connection (no ADSL2 here yet). Always has speed, only been down twice for the year. Never have to ring them... no need, everything works.

Pobably the best ISP i have been with in 12 years.

I have ADSL2 with Exetel and find them to be excellent value for money.
The speeds are what I expect from ADSL2, with no problems whatsoever.

I was previously with a company, which was taken over by TPG, who in turn were acquired by Soul earlier this year.
Since then customer service previously local, but now based in Malaysia, has deteriorated markedly resulting in my move to Exetel.

i used to be with inode, like them best
now with iinet due to location.
the net drop out sometimes but i think it might be due to modem(screwing up)/changing ip.
if you want support from them you will still be on the phone for quite some time... i had to get some info for the VOIP from them. took ages to get through
