Hi All, Any ideas on umarrying Irdeto Purple SMIT CAM.
I've got E17 which means the CAM has married to the whitey.
Now won't work with anything else. Any ideas if this can be done.
Thanks

When you do things right, people won't be sure that you have done anything at all
I haven't done it my self just read a bit

there is no publically available firmware for the smit cam.
try doing a search before asking pointless questions.
the 'upgrade' firmware referred to on this forum is for scm cams to upgrade them from 2.21 to 2.26......
Yes, I know the firmware you're referring to is for scm. I've done this on an scm which has also failed. however, I have a smit which is useless to me as shows e17, (married to card as I understand it). Therefore playing with it to see if freecam or other firwmware loads is not pointless. It's only pointless if someone has tried it and failed. If you've already done this and you can tell me it fails then it's pointless, until then it's called experimenting.
yes, it is pointless. you cannot load firmware for an scm cam into a smit cam.....
you need a loader board to load firmware into a smit cam, you cannot do it via pcmcia slot on a laptop/cas3 programmer.
this info has already been posted on this forum.
and there is no need to start multiple threads on the same subject, particularly when the search button would have given you all the info you need....
smit are aware of the e17 problem, but have done nothing about it.
hey, my 1000th post on the 'new' forum.....
Actually Hoe, I did use search function and turned up very little.
No where did I find anything about freecaming the smit card.
You keep talking about upgrading to scm firmware. No where in my post did I mention this. Freecam is different to the SCM firmware upgrade or am I missing something.
In that case, this thread has been useful to me and to possibly others who may want to have a play with the SMIT.
According to the information you have provided.
1/. SMIT CAM not easily upgradable.
2/. Freecamming therfore not an option.
3/. Stay away from SMIT CAMS as manufacturer does not wish to support them. They know of problems and turn and deaf ear to it.
Thanks to everyone for their assistance.
xray2,
The so-called "freecam" software was developed specifically to be installed on SCM hardware, namely, common interface conditional access modules manufactured by SCM.
It will not work with non-SCM hardware.
