    Record button:

    On the DM800, and on all DM800 images it is the RED Button and mentioned on the remote control Wiki page, where you would expect to find it
    Most likely also find this in your user manual as well

    What is cryptic about this?

    Wiki page:

    Recording

    * DM500, DM56x0, DM500+ users see below
    * DM7025, DM800 - press the RED button
    * DM600, DM7000, DM7020 - press the VIDEO button

    The red record button does not record.

    that's what is cryptic...and illogical.

    Have a look at a remote control.

    the key PLi have assigned is the fast rewind button....

    when i press the red record button on an Octagon guess what it does? ...It records.....

    This Pli assignment puts you into some radio mode.....???

    But they have used the other controls,,,(ff,pause,rewind,stop as per the remote)...so completely inconsistent....

    Why have a video button at all if it isn't going to be used.....

    sorry to butt in, however I thought the DM800s with PLi Jade were Enigma2 based?

    Correct and the red button on all e2 Jade boxes is record, but hey blame DMM not the image writers, as Enigma 2 works if that is all they want.

    hey jonc I didn't mean to criticise you mate, the GUI on these boxes is way different to that of the DM500/DM600 PLi images, and it's a steep learning curve for me

    I've never understood why the bigger remote just doesn't have a record button on it

    not sure what you mean by "as Enigma 2 works if that is all you want"...care to elaborate?

    Enigma2 is the software from DMM, so that is the base all image writers start with, so if it is red in E2 it is red on most images. What most image writers do is hang a softcam of some sort on them and go from there. So I was saying if Z did not like Jade, go back to original Enigma2 and work it out.

    Sorry I was not having a go at you and my apologies if it seemed that way. I agree it is steep learning curve and takes a few days to get used to.

    I prefer the E2 Jade software now as it is very simple and easy to use.

    The basic image is awful.

    The responses from the box are delayed..often the commands are done twice cause there is no response from the box..

    The replies vanish before you can read them.

    I spent a long time setting up newcs 1.62 and in the corner of my eye I saw a Bill Gates message A GREEN SCREEN OF DEATH...

    "We are sorry that your machine has crashed blah blah blah."

    four times today.....

    Of course all changes lost.....

    I can do it almost anytime by flicking through the setup screens too quickly.

    The poor dear gets confused having to serve in HD and display a picture as well as ftp to the LAN.....

    At the end of the day after having a good play..my recommendation is

    Do not buy a DM800...they are a piece of crap.

    and that goes for genuines and clones alike.
