Default Matrix Reloaded Cam Update Problems

Has anyone updated a Matrix Reloaded cam via Fun Card method??

I have a Matrix Reloaded Cam here with MR 1.07t firmware currently on it. I'm trying to update it to MR 1.180 with a Fun Card 6 but not having any luck. I'm using an elvis programmer with the multiprog software.

I've loaded the loader hex file to flash and the MR 1.180 funcard hex file to the external eeprom and have unchecked the internal. Erase card and then program which it says it completes successfully.

Now when I try to update via the cam menu I get to the point of "Performing smart card download..." but it always comes back with a download error "corrupt image", doesn't matter which firmware version I try or if I create my own Hex files from the bin or upd.

Is there a special method for programming the FunCard6? Or Does the Matrix Cam need a Cas2 or Cas3 to program it?

    Thanks in advance.

I use a CAS3 and have No Problems. Cant you just load the bin via your phoenix programmer? I dont know, but would you be able to use the CAS3. Try it. There are good Matrix files at the 'Laurals Website. You can access some info through Sataid. There are several Funcard6 loaders. From what I've read, you need at least 4 cards to load the firmware. If your trying to put the whole lot on one card then that's your problem.

I don't have access to a CAS3 that's why I'm trying the Funcard method. I'm fairly sure you can only use the bin firmware files if you are using a Cas2 or 3, this is why it needs to be converted to hex files for the funcard. The link you provided was the one I was already following and have also tried a couple of other sources. I've got 3 funcard6 cards but apparently only need to use 2.

I'll try some other funcard software and see how I go. If I still have no joy I'll try to contact cwispy.

    Cheers

    Thanks for your help Saintaholic.
I was finally able to upgrade the firmware on this cam. It always pays to walk away from something, have a re-think and come back.

I can't forget the most important part....... double check settings. I had the wrong card type selected. I knew as soon as I had the right card type selected and was erasing, that it was going to work.
