Default Which chip and f/w install...

    Hey Guys,

I recently purchased a wii from a helpful member here and I would like to run the v1.7 update...

(I have 2 x yr old kids who may put in a backup etc and I dont like bricks!!)

I would like to know 2 things:

A/ How do I find out which D2Pro version / chip I have

B/ How do I install the firmware from DVD? Do I just download it from the D2 site and burn it to a disk??

    Cheers

    Matt

Yep, just download the resource disk, burn it to dvd-r, run it and follow the instructions on the screen. The first time you run it, the firmware will be updated if it is not the latest version and the second time you run it, you will get the options menu allowing the change of the options such as updates and read speeds etc.

Yes. It must be one of the 9 wire d2pro's, not the older 13/15/19 wire versions.

Not really going to be able to tell without checking or asking the person who did it.

You need a d2prog programmer to check the firmware version.

You should be ok with the defaults that it sets unless you want to block all firmware updates.

The last one is set to EUR default. What are the repercussions of setting it to none?

Nothing really. You will just want to set it back if you do decide you want to update firmware cause some new game needs a newer firmware. Otherwise it will be fine with it set to none.
