Default Samsung Drive + HDD Mod in Xbox 360

Hi I Have a Firmware modded Samsung Drive X360. I was wanting to know if it is wise to do the mod on the HDD to get it to be 120GB. I am using ixtreme 1.2 and have been going strong on live for 2-3 years. I want to be able to rip games that I play regularly from disc to HDD to keep my orig samsung going a bit longer. Is this possible, or am I bound to be booted from live by doing this? Is there a way of running a disc cleaner or something through the samsung drive to keep it working well for longer??

I wouldn't be too worried about the samsung drive, they are easy to get and replace. Not to mention they are easy enough to repair as well in most cases. I even have the drive controller chips for them to repair the boards.

Dont know about the hard disk mod. Someone else may be able to answer that one for you. Im not even sure you would be able to load backups onto the hdd, but you might be able to, ive never tried it.

its the modded firmware on the drive that causes the ban, you should be safe with the hard drive mod.

Does backing up the games to the HDD mean the drive spins hardly at all or is not much copied accross to the hdd? Does this mod increase the life of your DVD drive particularly for those games you play heaps?

The New XBE allows you to copy games to the hard drive. When this is ferformed, the whole game is copied to the hard drive meaning that the dvd drive is no longer used except if you want to start a game from the hard drive the game must be in the drive for verification and then the dvd drive will spin for a short period to verify the game in the dvd matched the game being played. I guess for piracy reasons so people don't hire/borrow games, copy them to the hard drive and then return the game. Just means the xbox is quieter as there is no longer any annoying dvd drive noise, caused by the dvd drive and disc continually spinning.
