    Anyone able to fix blown network ports on dm500?

    there was a thread on the old forum about it.

    I suggest check that the pins in the RJ45 connector are okay.

    Then re-solder joints all over near the network IC in front left corner.

    It may also be the transmit chip, i did have a problem with the surface mount capacitors near the ethernet leds dry joints once resoldered all go

    Just a nob question if the network port is blown
    is there a way of using the rs232 port instead
    now be nice
    When you do things right, people won't be sure that you have done anything at all

    The network port on a 500c just blew tonight during a bad storm. The switch it was plugged into also went.

    Is the 500c a write off now? I think it blew the cable amp it was plugged into also.

    ouch...I had the same problem...lost 3 dreams in one go, lightning struck the vacant block next door. I think both the missus and jumped through the roof.
