    Default Olin HVBT-2000B HD STB

Hi all, just bought one of these babies tonight at kmart and thought I would give a brief rundown.

From connecting the unit and powering up, I was surprised a little at how long it took to scan in channels maybe one or two miutes longer than usual but no a great worry there, scanned in 24 tv & 4 radio channels.

a very detailed 7day EPG, but easy to read & use. ( i presume stb's have a detailed epg with some easier to use & read than others)
no lag between changing channels unlike the Rank Arena SD stb I have replaced.
picture and sound quality more than adequate for my needs.
remote control is easy to use.
can set your region in the menu ie:nsw, qld, vic ect and also set daylight saving time.
it appears to be a reasonably sensitive HD tuner.

for the price $129, I thought it a good buy.

So you probably don't want to hear that I paid $49 at Coles yesterday for a HVBT-1800 (which is similar).

LeadingEdge Electronics carry this brand too but I cant remember their price.
HD stb's sure have dropped in price in recent months.
Woolworths had an AWA HDSTB on sale recently for $99. AWA seems to be one of their brands now.
I notice most of the cheapies are fairly plain and have no number display but do you really need it ?

I picked up the 2200B for $68 at k-mart last week, and I am very happy with the picture, especially the HD channels using HDMI. The info bar even tells u if its 1080i such as prime, nbn and sc10 or 720p ABC and SBS. 1 button on the remote to get a signal strength meter is a good idea as well. It seems to have a very sensitive tuner, im in a very grey/black region and most digital channels are iffy but this box seems to be better than anything else I have tried with low signal quality.

I tried to find some more $49 HVBT-1800's, as they'd make good Christmas presents. But it would seem that I bought the last one from where I got it, and none of the few other Coles stores that I tried have any either. Oh well.
