8.2mp Ver 4.1mp still camera
I just got my kid a new 8.2mp camera for xmas, And I was trying it out to see how good it is because I only have a 4.1mp same brand and my old one takes a better photo.
Shouldn't the 8.2mp S#it allover my old 4.1mp ?
have a look ...this isn't zoomed in

I have one of those aldi traveller $99 8mp cameras and my old canon 3.2mp took much better pictures. Ive read it has more to do with the optics than the amount of pixels, the larger the lense the more light that can get in so the photos look better especially in low light and at night.
The final result is very much dependant on the lens being used and you don't get much of a lens on a $99 camera I'm afraid.
There are other reasons also, why double the number of picture elements does not necessarily mean a better picture.
Ken Rockwell, a very well-respected authority in the photographic community, explains more here -
It's well worth reading!
yes that megapixel myth got me
and what Gerbertron said about the lense size is right my old one is easily double the new one, So the more light can get in.
Also the colour is not good on the new one (more yellowish)
