    Default wireless network help, please

    Hi,
I have a wireless modem router (netgear 834gt) which i connect
to though the inbuilt wireless adapter in my laptop, i want to plug another
computer into the Ethernet port of my laptop and have the DHCP in the
wireless router assign it an ip address (both computers running xp pro), is
this just a case of bridging the two connections? anyone done this before?

    cheers

what you are talking about sounds like connecting two desktops to each other and sharing the connection .

    so you would have to

enable internet connection sharing on computer 1 so computer 2 could get online.

easier alternative is to throw a wireless card into the second computer

    what fandtm666 said.
if you plan to do it your way you will need to assign ip addresses as i'm sure dhcp wont come across from the wireless.
so you will need to rightclick on the wireless icon on your laptop enable internet connection sharing with the ethernet.
set a static IP to your ethernet e.g. 192.168.0.1 255.255.255.0
then on your other machine have the following setup.
    lanip: 192.168.0.2
    subnet: 255.255.255.0
    gateway: 192.168.0.1
dns: ( put in your isp's dns address )

and you should be all good.

You will also need and ethernet crossover cable if you run a pc from your laptop with no router/hub.
The laptop will have to have Internet connection Sharing enabled.
Still do not know if it will work.

As fandtm666 wrote, far easier to throw in a wireless card.
