    Default Bloody Networking

Hi Guys I really need some hep this time LOL

I have a 3G USB key modem plugged in to the laptop
I have shared the internet connection with that so I
Have a switch connected to the laptop via the Lan port
and from that switch i have
plugged in a computer, dreambox (not doing much LOL) and
a linksys VOIP router which is where my problems start

I have plugged a cable from the switch to the wan/internet port on the router and for the life of me I can't get the Voip going properly

This is where the problem lies in the wan settings I think
Any thoughts as the rest of it is all working ie internet etc

    cheers

plug it into the normal port of the router and set the ip in the voip manually.

the wan internet port is one that is used when you have an adsl modem with insufficient ports and as such plug in the available port to the wan port of the router .it then gets the connection and shares it through its available ports

I did that and the Voip light shows connected " BUT "
When making a call it takes for ever and ever for it to start ringing and when I try and phone the Voip phone it says the phone is out of range LOL

The Linksys router is not showing a real internet Addy it shows 192.168.0.11 ?? The laptop is 192.168.1.1

and this is from speed test

    Decisions,which one to use ????

If your ISP is running a DHCP server, select the Obtain an IP a

If your ISP provides a static or fixed IP address, Subnet Mask, Gateway and DNS setting, select the Static IP option.

If your ISP provides a PPPoE connection,

If your ISP provides RAS (for SingTel) connection,

If your ISP provides Heart Beat Signal connection,

Let me get this clear, you are attempting to initialise voip via a 3 g network so as to avoid a fixed line ? 3G via switch ?

Personally I would get back to basics and set up the router to establish a connection with your ISP, try ppope setting in your router.

Remove the 3G modem from the loop and get VOIP working normally.

    Good Luck
