very basic and probably of no use at all is the weight of the cards
i.e. Gamma ways more than Goldie
It seems that all cards want to be white in colour these days,
White "Goldie's", White "Silvers" etc....
If they became shuffled & are blank cards , how can we tell which is which ?
Is there a program that will tell us the PIC of a card, or is there another way ?
Your thoughts appreciated

Thanks hillbilly,
Thats good to know, "different weights", (no not so silly at all)
I was thinking about using ICPROG on cards I suspected of being Gold or silver & selecting different PICs & do the command verify ?
I was also wondering if the ATR or other details would give its Identity away ?

The atr of a "programmed" card will be what ever the coder put there.
So software will try to work out the chip on the card, but that may or may not cause damage.
Remember PIC is the cpu type on gold and silver cards (and others), the Gammas wont be PIC.
Can I suggest you label the cards
Pm me your address.
I will send you a texta pen for xmas
Old Dog, No Flies
There must be a sh!tload of people out there that have asked for a "white
card\gamma with no atr" and ended up with a white 16f84
There must be people out there who try to program Goldie files onto a Silver Card using Goldie's Pic & Eeprom settings, when both cards are white,
& vice versa,
I guess error messages would indicate wrong settings,
When I get some more blank cards I will test them with the verify command in ICPROG
my cards are not mixed up at the moment, I was just wondering,
I wonder if Emerald & Fun cards will become white cards too ?
but I think the Texta is a good idea , for the time being,
Thanks Twoshots, I already have one
P.S it could end up a situation like Crocodile Dundee putting Co-cane in his Coffee, (thinking it was sugar)

I can tell you that trying to read a "fruity" coloured aus card with greywolf etc will stop it from working....
did one by accident and ...hello tech support...
Thanks for all your posts, appreciated
I took the sticker off the little bag the card came in (detailing the PIC & the Eeprom & a description of the card), & stuck it on the back of the card,
The Cards can now Identify themselves

With white goldies, could you hold them in front of a strong light and look for two chips, not the single chip of gammas/sellers?
Sorry if this is dumb but I don't have any white goldies to test this theory. Maybe the chips reside under the gold contacts in which case I'm way off beam.
cas 3 identifies them.
Many thanks johna,
Just wondering mate,
Do you use a software program with your Cas 3,
if so what is the name of the program, (& where could I get it)
Thanks

Multiprog has an auto detect which finds the pic
and they work very well for this sort of thing
cas 2 and dynamite plus is a bit cheaper, uses the same programs.can be very handy.
