Default do I need my Humax?

I picked one up becasue everyone was saying you need one in the mix for that special card to update if using GW. I've been using newcs 1.18 running on xp with a couple of dream clients and I stuck a different one of those special cards in that had been out for days and left it. When I came home a couple of hours later it was running so obviously it's getting it's emm updates. So I haven't worried about trying the new midnight version of GW yet! (I will for a tinker at some stage) So the question on everyones lips....Is it worth keeping the Humax?

what's with the smart arse comments fellas?

If I just wanted to sell the thing straight up I would stick it in the trader or list it on ebay. I had a look at and thought there are some interesting things there but I have a dm and a 4658x that appears to server my needs so prob don't need it unless someone who is familiar with a 5400z has something creative that I may be interested in using it for.
So maybe only people who have had experience with Humax,s need reply.

yes you will need a humax for quite a while, dreamboxes can't make all types of card updates work.

Not sure what smart arse comments you are referring to......I removed a post that was more suited to the Buy Sell Trade forum because there is an increasing number of people offering to buy things off others and turning this section in to a trading arena.

I can remember years ago when I had about 6 Humax's. I ended up selling them all , getting other boxes , buying Dreamboxes , and recently bought a Humax 5400 with TOH for $100 out of the BST section.

I quite enjoyed having a play with it again , especially looking at all the information TOH gives you and will be keeping this one for good as they are just too handy a box. For what you would get for it , you would probably be better off keeping it in my opinion.

I'm getting the 'why do you need all these sat thingo's....you bought this new box and it's been sitting on the table for 2 weeks..' bla bla bla bla bla you know how it gets sometimes.
I don't know a lot about these things and maybe I should of posted in the decoder section so may be worth moving.
This one I have has a Cam TOH 3.4. I gather this is what you are referring to. It's a 5400z.

    Keep it Leroy.
They are the best box even if it's just for tuning in a dish.
And if she's bitching anymore, go and take her to the make up cabinet and say why do you need all this? I drink beer so you don't need this
Nah seriously, the Humax is a great box and in my opinion worth holding on to.

I agree with you. I use my IR-ACE to take up to the roof, the small 5" LCD TV and of you go. The humax has a nice big signal strength meter, easy to see, even in sunlight.
