Default iPod Problem or Battery replacement needed

My daughter's iPod (looks like a 5th generation 30Gb type) is playing up.

It never seems to charge no matter what you do. If you connect the USB cable and connect it to the computer it comes to life ocassionally going to the apple sign but most of the time simply says "do not disconnect" or showing a battery symbol with a z through it.

She has had the iPod for at least 2 years so I am sure the battery needs replacing of which I am planning to do myself.

Has anyone seen this before and is this typical of battery problems.

Can someone recommend where to buy a replacement battery?

    Many Thanks in advance

    Default

Just checked out ebay - seems to be plenty of batteries between $10 to $15 delivered (includes a DIY kit)

Noticed also that there are Li-ion and Li-pol type batteries.

Seems It should be a no brainer to simply purchase a Li-ion battery kit.

    Feedback anyone?
