    Default Protected silver details

I've got a protected silver 1.2 card that works although it's getting old after many km's. I'd like to read my details from it to make a new silver with my jaycar mk2.

I've tried fmcard but no good for 1.2, tried cardwizard 1.5 but it gives me an error when stepping, cardblaster works but gives me gives me 'short' hmk's and pmk's, etc. (Not enough bytes)

I've done a tonne of reading but can only find 6 year old posts that say you can't read from a protected silver. Is this still true ?

    Cheers...

    Hello
If its done with ghost code just read it with ggedit or lmedit to get the details off it.
You cant damage it if its not ghost code.
Actually ggedit will only do gold cards but lmedit will do both.

A protected silver probably has Ausgold on it and you can't get your details off it. If you try hard enough you can stop the card from working.

ps the word gold in ausgold has nothing to do with the card type.

pps how did you find 6 year old posts... this forum crashed a year ago, must have been elsewhere.

I actually meant you will not damage card using lmedit or ggedit as they are not brute forceing details.

Haven't tried icprog - but have tried everything else. I get basic details in fmcard, cardwizard, etc - but no go when it comes to trying to extract hmk.

You cant extract the hmk from gold or silver with fmcard or card wiz.
Use lmedit you can find it here and with files and info to get it going.

Wasn't trying to extract hmk with fmcard or cardwizard, was just saying they give me basic details. I tried cardblaster for the hmk - but it gives me short/wrong bytes.

Same thing, PIC based cards are not MOSC's, Cardblaster, FMCard, Cardwizard will read basic details (i.e. HSN ProvID, ATR, Coco etc) from both MOSC's and Wafers (PIC based, Whiteys, Emeralds etc) as well as send .crd files to both, but that is where the similiarity ends, these programs are designed for MOSC's, that is, Modified Original Smart Card, extracting the info and Modifying the original Smart Cards, NOT Wafers etc.

As Blade alludes to, you are wasting your time using any of these programs to extract HMK's or PMK's from Wafers, use LMEdit or GGEdit to read the HMK and/or PMK and as ssratus has already mentioned if the code on the Silver is Ausgold and the EEProm is protected, you won't get what your after.
    Cheers

The short answer is NO, you can't make a new card with the details from your protected silver card.

Nice new coat there Al, and I thought I'd never see the day.

The consensus yrs ago was that details on a protected Ausgold card was much more secure
    than any original card.
