hey guys
ive been working away at this all day (reading soldering testing etc etc).
I still havnt managed to get the dvdkey off a lite on drive.
Whats the best method to go about doing it? Home made preferably, otherwise i dont mind buying a executer but i think that'd be too easy
ive made the home made extractor in that but it doesnt seem to come up with any key. Do i need to bridge any thing on the actual dvd drive?
cheers
Look Here -> |
Urban, the TX(R707) needs to bridged in order to extract the liteon DVD key.
Fortunately in order to Flash the liteon with hacked firmware does not require any bridging.
I used the Xtractor 360 hardware(wirewrap to short R707) and extractor_reader to read the identify, enquiry and dvd key.
I then used Jungle flasher which compiles the above files in conjuction whtich the latest x15 liteon hacked firmware.
I then used dosflash to clear the original firmware from the liteon drive and then copied the hacked firmware back.
I would steer clear of Jungle flasher to erase and write to the liteon drive and just use Dosflash personally atm.
I had lockups erasing using Jungle Flasher.
Using VIA VT6421 pci card & vista.
hey guys
the method above works fine... extracted a key this morning.
suprising some people charge $120 just to do that... its quite a simple process once you know what you are doing...
big thanks to gavpk for all his help
good to hear, as i said to you urban, using any NPN transistor
(as suggested in the above tut) may not always work as i found
out the first time, but using a BC547 transistor got it going first time
so for anyone considering flashing there own liteon drive, this is
an easy working DIY solution, once you have the keys, the liteon drive
is the easiest to flash and also nearly impossible to brick (once you
extract the correct keys)
i used the BC548 NPN transistor, but as you said i think they will all work in a similar fashion....
You have to remove pin number 3 from the xbox drive which is the one directly to the right of the pin with the triangle on it (thanks gavpk), that bit confused me a bit at the start.
Also you need to scratch at the r707 pad to show the copper tracks before attaching the probe to it.
Here are some pictures of my solution
If anyone needs anymore help with this please ask in this thread and ill do my best to lend a hand
Gee,
Ya help people out and then you express an opinion, and if the "Austech insiders don't like "u" your brushed
Opinions are taken personally on austech.........so watch out if your opinion is different to the norm/mean/average.
Cheers and thanks for your "free" advice/update/experience urban_s0ulja, especially in your field of experience.
No one makinng a big name for themselves and the asking people for donations to make their heads bigger would be a relief, unless they were front-up with it.
pfff, what a childs play
Your ok
cheers,
machine
dont know what you mean by your post....
but im suprised, many "professional modders" as they like to call themselves asked for upto $120 to complete the seemingly simple process above...
those same modders didnt even have the curtosy to come in and lend a hand / share there opinon.... im not looking to start a business and steal work i was just looking to learn how to do it themselves....
this "gaming section" of austech is almost similar to the security section, the so called "pros" keep all the fun to themselves
oh well, im glad i got through it and learnt it all,
big thankyou to gavpk
Im a little confused now,
@ machine, im not sure what your getting at?
@urban, it doesnt matter what people charge, thats up to them, im sure
you not going to start a "xbox mod shop"

Will any transisor work or does it have to be a certain series (BC548 or so)?
almost any npn small signal transistor should work.
What would you do if your server was stolen or failed beyond repair?

Cwispy thanks. I used a small npn transistor that I took off of a compaq monitor (who said compaq weren't good for anything). I completed the tool by soldering the points and then using hot glue to make sure they were covered and it worked like a charm. I flashed my first liteon today. Thanks again for the info.
I personally take offence at some of the comments here , if you do not believe quite a few of us are open with suggestions on how to fix something for free instead of sending it to us , in future I may just do that , not help at all , and then if bad advice is given , which it often is , again I may just ignore it all .
for everyones information the only reason I have not posted in this thread is that I have not even attempted to do a liteon as yet
but I do agree on one thing $120 is a lot to pay for this process , I have only ever charged $50 to flash drives regardless of type , the liteon will be no different
Used this process tonight after making my home made extraction tool, all worked great up until i was writing the new key onto the drive, i was using jungle flash to write key, but the thing kept freezing, used dosflash32 to put key onto drive and all was sweet.
I have read that jungle flasher is a little of a problem (freezing), worked for key extraction and erasing the drive just would not write new key to drive.
Anyone wanting to do this method i would say that it is easy as long as you know your basic electronics to make key extraction tool.
Cheers.
