Yes mate, its fine to update over the net or from a known game of the same region as the console.
so I am going through some back ups last night and I have no problem with updates at all until I get to 1 game that asks for an update to play.
Need for speed underground??
Now I have done the v1.7 upgrade thing and I thought that meant that I would not get asked for updates?
A couple of questions please?
Can I update the software via an internet connection (with a chip)
If I use the 'brickblocker' on the iso will this remove the update and will I still need an update to play the game?
Thanks guys.
Matt

What would you do if your server was stolen or failed beyond repair?

thanks cwispy!
The disc is from (possibly questionable) origins...
Should I ditch it?
Once the firmware on the console is newer than the firmware on the disk it will no longer ask to update, but there is no guarantee that it will work if its out of region. So keep hold of it until after you update the system.

Be careful, you can't install WAD's with WAD Manager v1.3 any more with the latest update.
I connected online and did the wii update.
Tried the disk again and it is still asking for the update ... might ditch it I think
As long as you are a higher version f/w you will be ok, so you can agree to the update from the game as it will be older= cannot brick u

It appears the disk was a US version (need for speed) so I tried brickblocker and it appeared to work.
I stuck the disc in and the 'channel' came up but when I started the game the screen went black and just stayed like that!
Oh well!
