Default ICprog 1.06A & Jaycar proggy on XP pro SP3

    Hi all

Just thought I would post some early results with the above version of ICprog 1.06A running on XP pro SP3 as lately there have been some newer members having difficulty programming the cards on under XP sp3 conditions.

I'm posting in the hope it may give some of the newer members some hope as I've had to load everything back on pc due to loosing everything last wknd.

first of all I made sure I had the correct ocx files and correctly registered them in windows system32.

next, I dropped the ICprog driver directly into the Icprog folder ( the driver is available from icprog.com)

next I "right" clicked on the ICprog program > clicked properties > clicked compatability mode then "unchecked compatability mode"

next I opened icprog and wanted to set the options but couldn't find the paperwork that came with the jaycar programmer kit so have left everthing as they are until I can get my hands on the setup options.

and then next proceeded to program 2 goldies without any hassles, the only hassle's I had really, were reading understanding farmsky's and whiteox's tutes - as brillant as these two tutorials are, I have always had trouble understanding and thats taking nothing away from farmsky or white ox!!

but anyway all in all for the newer members, I'm runing a serial cable from com1 to the jaycar with the power supply adapted from the usb port this I changed over months ago when I built the programmer as you can have either the 5v power supply from the wall socket or the instruction kit gives you details of how to change the power supply to 5v of which I did.

So all in all within 20minutes I had programmed two goldies, I'll have a go at a silver tomorrow, getting a bit late atm.

    cheers enjoy.

    Hello Osirus
The .crd files work fine but make sure you use the correct one as there is one for gold cards and one for silver cards.
When you fill out your details in the .crd open it in front screen of fmcard (mouse).
Then it will load in the crd window make sure your connected to card then click send.
Card will then recieve correct details you added.
    Cheers

    Ye OSIRUS!

I remember reading somewhere these programs, the icprog versions were developed in the win98 days and were meant to be run under those conditions and that you should check the compatability mode if running win98 and to uncheck the compatability if running a higher version of windows

    ie: xp in my case.

    You can say that again.
Many thanks to all the Gals and Guys for the tips and tricks of construction.
I was able to make a neater job of fixing the tracks, but more or less followed the advice. Received kit Xmas eve. Started on assembly Xmas day.
After a lot of false starts following various tutorials using ICProg, GGEdit and FMCard, I managed to sort out how to clone a goldie using ICProg alone.
Had ideas of doing this 5 years ago, but got tangled up with the European scene. Look out Rupert and Kerry, here we come.

    Ok more updates

after the success of programming a gold card using the above configuration XP pro SP3, I then could not get the bastard to program a silver card, was up till 2.00am and have spent most of today trying to reconfigure something I knew used to work again - I know I have the correct ocx files and correctly registered, so I resorted to rolling back SP3 to SP2 & also back to ic-prog 1.05d!

so now under XP pro SP2 ic-prog 1.05d
I program the silver by loading the bootloader @ 6mhz, then load the emerald hex at 3mhz, then load the ghost si hex @ 6mhz and bingo all is fine!!!

I have made sure that the only fuse that is checked is WRT with code protect off!! these have a bad habit of changing during burning.

my configuratin settings in ic-prog 1.05d are as follows

    smartcard phoenix checked
in the misc tab in options enable NT/2000/XP drive, process priority normal.
in the smartcard tab in options, com1, multimac 214, device 16f84, freq 3.58mhz and that got me out of trouble.

so thanks for reading and enjoy, Ijust hope I wa able to give some help to those that were having trouble.

Default Making a Goldie or Silver for Aurora

I have IC-prog 1.06B running on XP SP3 no problems

Using the Jaycar MII Programmer with jumpers set at Phoenix / 3.57MHZ

Download the IC-Prog NT/2000/XP driver & put it in the same folder as the IC-Prog program

no .ocx files required to run IC-Prog

    Set the IC-Prog Settings
    1.Hardware – JDM Programmer – Com 1 – Direct I/O – I/O Delay set at 10 (Click OK)
    2.Options – Misc - Normal – tick Enable NT/2000/XP Driver (Click OK)
3.You are then prompted to restart the Program / Computer - (Click OK)

    Set more IC-Prog Settings
    5.Options – Smartcard – Com 1 – Multimac 214 – 16F84 – 3.58 MHZ (Click OK)
    6.Smartcard (Phoenix) is ticked

Follow Farmsky tutorial to program the PIC & the Eeprom

    Shut Down Computer

Change the Jaycar jumpers to Phoenix / 6 MHZ (for LMedit)

    Start the computer

Now place all the individual .ocx files in the folder with the programs, (not in a zip folder or a folder), (this saves you having to register them) ( or place them in the system 32 folder & register them)

    Set LMedit Settings to – Phoenix – 6 MHZ – Com 1 – GS/ E / F (or GGold)

Use LMedit to read the details of a working card, & then write these details to the New Card

Or use LMedit to manually enter the details & write them to the card

    Works for me

    Talking You're a real Masochist.

    G'Day Cobber,
As sure as God made little apples, if there's a hard way of doing it, you'll find it.
You can do it in ICProg alone in a few simple steps.

I'm buggered if I can this to work under SP3. Had no probs under previous sp's.

Had a goldie aurora ir1 backup stop working so decided to try to reprogram. No go so thought I would buy 2 of the new Jaycar white / goldies to play with, as apparentley these have a lack of success in working.

Spent many hours trying with above instructions which seem similar to what I did in past. It would appear I am unable to blank the cards completely.

Not seeking anything here but thought I'd post as I am about 2 reinstall XP with previous SP.

Wondering if anyone else has had this prob and a workaround, my laptop is an older Dell which has standard com port in back.

Jamesv, do you have an old pc that could possibly load win 98 onto? it might be the way to go.......

as you know the goldies weren't an issue for me but when I tried torching a silver, it wouldn't torch no matter what settings I had adopted for ICprog, SO in the end I rolled back from SP3 to SP2 and whamo can do silvers as well as goldies again.

XP SP3 working fine here, can make Goldie, Silver & Emerald no problem,

with the Silver card when I selected the files to load (e.g. the bootloader or the Eeprom file or the PIC file) instead of using the default "all files" I dropped the box down & selected the IHX16files (I think it was) & it programed without error, every time (don't know if this is right or wrong,) but the cards all fired up OK, & they haven't missed a beat,

    just trying to help

I found that v1.05 worked ok on XP SP3 but later versions didnt.
Don't worry, it only seems kinky the first time.

Thanks Rocket, I am using 1.06 so will try older version (although I think I have already). Had that many shots at it, starting to feel like it's the Golden Shot (anyone remember that old UK telly program ?)
