    Default HDD Upgrade

    Hi guys, i was going to upgrade my laptop HDD from 30gig to 120gig, and i would like to transfer all my data from the old 30gig straight into the new one together with the operating systems. How would i go achieving this, please your help needed.

    You will need some sort of HDD/partition cloning tool.

    I personally recommend either Acronis, or Norton/symantic Ghost. Just boot with one of these boot discs and go from there.
    Usually there are a couple of things to watch out for when cloning (particularly os drives), but these shouldn't effect you.

    There are external cases around for laptop drives for cheap too, put the new drive in the external case then use the software RHCP mentioned and when your finished you should be able to swap the drive and setup the bios if it needs it.

    Lol, i completely forgot about only having 1 drive in the system at a time.
    If you don't have an external caddy, both programs are able to use a network drive (on another computer) to store your image.
    Just boot and dump the image to the remote drive.
    Swap drives in the laptop.
    Boot and restore/clone from the image on the remote drive.
