    Unhappy XP Activiation Issues?

Anybody else having activation issues today?

My main PC is on XP SP3 with it set to download updates automatically, but let me choose when to install them. Installed some a few days ago, but this morning the PC looks like it re-booted overnight and insists I activate before I can log on?

I used my 'normal' tool to try and fix this, but now it won't even boot into safe mode.

MS been hiding something in the updates? (or should I put away my tin foil hat!)

Open to suggestions at this point.

    Thanks in advance,
    Pom

Yep mate I can help you I had the same problem a few weeks ago

Try booting up in safe mode without networking, then as soon as you see a desktop screen try ctrl alt del and killing winlogon.exe and explorer.exe

then ctrl alt del again and start up explorer.exe again and you can get to administrator desktop so you can run your tool.

    OK,

Correction to my first post. I can now boot into safe mode again, the tool appears to work, but still getting the activation message at the main log on.

    Bugger.

I'm at work but I would be more than happy to send you the tool I used, it was only about a month ago and it worked on XP 32bit SP3

    That would be great thanks.

All the ones I find are just viruses

Mine doesn't look any safer, its like a 50kb .exe file lol but trust me its not a virus it works.

Btw: Did it come up as patch succesful on winlogon.exe ? What was shown once you ran it?

    Patch did show as successful.

Another member has also sent me an alternate fix that also didn't work. Again, showed that it applied OK, but after I enter my password at the main windows logon I get the activation message and no other opion but to shut down.

Will keep on going at it for now.

    Cheers,
    Pom
