i would check and make sure the dhcp is not turned off.
what you have described is the dhcp turned of and as such not allocating anything connected to it an ip address.
so go in and make sure it is turned ON then reboot the modem
I have had recent problems with my LAN which is just a small 2 computer home network with a modem running off a Hub. Im currently using my original D-Link DSL-200 modem through USB, it's from awhile ago. But before i had to resort back to that, i had a D-Link 302G (c revision) using the ethernet through a hub to give internet to the two computers...
So the problem is, my computer wont communicate with the modem via ethernet (wether directly in computer or through hub) unless i define the address (10.1.1.1) as the gateway and give the computer a set IP. It all use to work fine under the automatic detect settings but when i try it that way i have Limited or no connectivity and cant access modem. THis is happening with both the computers, what going on? Any ideas?

I checked and the DHCP is enabled but there is no subnet mask defined. is there ment to be. If so how do i change it...
the unit must have a subnet
It seems to be working now, but not very well... I turned the NAT option in the modem to off, but i am not sure wether the internet its now accessable over the network.
Thanks for your input, i may just leave it running on the one computer and not worry too much about the other one, ill just have to wait for another day when i feel interested but now, im not very up for the challenge at the moment
For a 302G connected via ethernet port the NAT should be ON, in the DHCP section DHCP server selected and address range, start 10.1.1.3 and end address 10.1.1.32. Both PCs should be setup to obtain address automatically.
The Dlink web site has setup guides etc
I reckon your problem is the hub. You need to replace it either with a network switch or better still with gateway or router. Turn off all NAT and firewall in the modem and put in a bridge mode.
The modem you have will let you use two computers simultaneously when one of the is connected via USB and another via ethernet port.
i'll check out their website, thanks for the tip.
sounds like the modem needs a complete reset, try updating firmware too. but in my personal opinion it sounds like its time for a upgrade to a all-in-one router/modem
