You could get a stick of drylube and rub it on the belt should spot it
Had the V6 Supercharged Commodore detailed today and they used a High pressure spray cleaner under the bonnet and now the Supercharger pulley is squealing it tits off.
Any Idea's for a quick fix without a trip to the mechanic?
Thought maybe a squirt of some sort of lubericant without touching the drive belt.

You could get a stick of drylube and rub it on the belt should spot it
dry soap rubbed on the belt stops squeaks.
Dash
Use anything but oil or grease, i use to hit the belts with a little coarse sand paper to rouge the belts a little but a little rub of a dry lube or soap works just fine.
After washing engine bays my biggest problem is idle pulley bearings getting noisy after getting some water into them.
Thankyou for the feedback All....
Will try the above remedies...
Did the Soap trick with No luck
So I drove up to the local hardware and got a can of
WD40(can almost fix anything)
Sprayed into the pulley bearings with the motor running and hey presto noise disappeared.
Road test still an intermitent squeal but I will give it some time to get into the bearings..
Ps-:Note when you spray WD40 with the motor running it will and does make a big F**king mess of your engine bay but if that's what is needed to get it in the correct place so be it.
Thanks again for your advice

Alternator bearing is dry
Sounds like belt slip....you just lubed your belts up mate. LOL
Thats why i prefer to rough the belts and pulley grouves up with sand paper like when they are new and retension everything.
To test any bearings start the engine, get a really big long screw driver, place the metal tip against a stationary part of the pulley and put your ear against the plastic handle.
It works like a stethoscope, you will hear the bearing noise clearly through the handle.
Be warned, its dangerous, be carefull the the screwdriver does not slip!
Dont forget, dont just test the alternator, there are also idle pulleys on some cars for tensioning belts.
Looks to be one of the pulleys...Bugger
A pulley?
Take it off and have a really close look at it, most cars have standard bearings fitted that you can replace.
If yours can be replaced, punch out your old one and take it to a bearing shop, they will read the numbers off it or measure it up and hand you a replacement.
I go through heaps of them, its a side effect of having a clean engine bay.
I even keep a spare pulley with a new bearing fitted and a old bearing that i take to the bearing shop for matching.
They are a plastic job on the supercharged V6 not sure if the bearing can be replaced , Will find out over the next couple of days...
great info Godzilla..Thankyou
I replaced two tension pulleys in my mate holden, fixed the problem. I had people say it was the alternator, the water pump etc etc. But those plastic pulleys are useless.
Well i just got curious about whether the bearings could be replaced in the plastic assemblys so i started to look around.
Metal replacement kits; looks exactly like my pulleys and you can replace the bearings like my unit later if they fail again. $75 for all 3 pulleys.
Just make sure their OK or a supercharged V6, maybe contact the seller for more info.

Looks to me as tho both belts have 1 tensioner and 2 idlers . The idler up to the right of the harmonic balancer has 2 idlers stacked.
One of the main engine belt idlers also has no tag .
Thats if your talking about the pic above.
If the motor will run remove the supercharger belt to prove noise. As Godzilla said a screwdriver works well.
Once their noisy thats your warning to replace other wise you might get stranded .Check Bursons out for parts.
Great work posting the diagram, looks like the supercharger has its own kit, we cannot tell from the diagram if the standard kit will work on the superchargers belt setup.
I wonder if Holden used standard factory pulleys for the supercharger, or if they used ones supplied from the superchargers manufacturer as a supplied conversion kit?
Maybe some close-up pics of the pulleys and each belts setup may help identiy them.
Then again a stethascope test may just pin point it straight to the standard alternator/water pump setup.
Not too expensive to convert, SKF charge me $25 and CBC charge $12 for the same bearing on its own, this kit works out to be the same price as i pay for the most expensine bearing for the whole kit with bearings and pulleys.
Bloody cheap!
Ok I have been away for a few days and the squealing has not improved.
So with the advice from above and a mechanic friend the noise seems to be coming from the Tensioner Pulley and Idler pulley's so we are going to change both of them later today I hope.
See attached photo's
Im having a little chuckle.....new parts are marked made in Canada. LOL
Buy Australian built....and keep Canadians employed.
